I'm Mexican and made $180,000 last year. So why dont we focus on why the unions charge so much and maybe talk about illegal alien wages. Or maybe just other americans that accept under minimum wage because they want work just that much.
You're right. I should have specified illegal alien wages. What I'm really saying is anti union people want us to compete with ACTUAL Mexican wages.

To "cheap, cheap, cheap". Let me get this straight. The owner of Grill and Grape, who owns his own construction company, remodels a building he owns, using his own company, works weekends and evenings to get this done, and you think he should hire union workers. I am sure he pays his employees well, otherwise they would not work for him. More importantly, he provided employment while a lot of other carpenters, electricians, and laborers are looking for awork. I say hat's off to Grill and Grape to have the guts to venture into the food business during these economic times.
I totally agree with you 100%, I couldn't have said it better myself...Good Luck to Reifschneiders Grill and Grape, we will be there to support you.

I am sick of this idiot pretending to be me. Once again I will say that the unions are for great and protected me from having to work for about 5 years. Love unions and the brotherhood. Keep paying my taxes while I sit on my couch playing with my xbox and myself.

You wish--come out and sit with all the housewives of Columbia at a soccer practice, like last night. All laughing about sissy men on their computer, while we're reading it on our phones. Not a size bigger than a 8. Obviously, you don't get out a lot, not many fat moms in Columbia. We live a pretty damn nice life cause we are married to REAL men, who don't cry on the computer.

This as been fun, but we are now bored with you. A scab is a scab and you are a sorry bunch. We're moving on.....

never was never will be in a union. I'm in a different trade in which I get paid based on performance. I am not into blackmailing like the unions did to GM and other successful businesses. Unions are a big part of why this country is in the shape it is in now. But hey, you don't care as long as there's someone out there to gouge....

SOO.... you think you're high in mighty because your man is a union operator...lol! They make average wages - when they work - and have to pay dues out of it. I guess if you weren't proud of him, who would be? Good luck!

Different wife, not saying your opinions are right or wrong. But, the fact is that my husband brings home 42.00 hr after dues, annuity and darn good benefits. I think that is a good wage for a working guy. Never been laid - off. So, you can't stereotype everyone. It's no different than anything else.

I don't think they are even picking on "union" I think "impressed" is picking on guys on the gossip site. It is kinda weird, bit sissyish (if that's a word)

I hate to get involved in this, but construction companies charging a hundred bucks an hour to cover that 42 plus benefits and dues is why the average person can't afford them. I'm not sure what he's doing though, I didn't think many construction guys were making quite that much. Even plumbers or electricians aren't that high. 75g a year is a LOT for somebody without a degree. I know their trained, all of them, at what they do, but they don't (mostly) spend 4yrs and 100g on school and a degree. Overtime maybe?

What I've heard is that the owner did not "do all the work himself." He brought in contractors to work on his parking lot and other projects and all of these projects were non-union. To add insult to injury, there were supposedly several Mexicans doing the work and even employees at nearby Tiny's noticed how many were working over there.
The unions didn't ask to do all of the work; just some. They were told NO.
The situation was bad enough that not just one, but many of the trades, including the carpenters, operators, sheet metal workers, painters, plumbers, electricians, and the laborers put the place on the "Do Not Patronize" list.
I will not go there despite having looked forward to a nice wine place in Columbia (and, no, I don't belong to a union and neither does anyone in my family.)

Hows the food? whats the menu like? hows the service? And the price? Is it family friendly or more formal? I clicked on here hoping to find some reviews, but not one. Just a bunch of bickering about union/non union.

I wonder if the Union would have picketed Bully's? Did union do all the work when they remodeled? Why doesn't anyone check them out? What about the crappy work done by Union workers at the Hampton Inn? Must be proud of that place until it falls in on those sleeping. This country is going to hell in a union made basket. Worthless unions can kiss my ass.

. Maybe you can afford a 30g parking lot, not everybody can. Guess they should've agreed to union labor, then went bankrupt, that's in style, buy a bunch of new crap and file. I know a union guy in hecker that did just that, and a couple in red bud(all construction guys). Or just give up and start the guvment draw since they couldn't make up the difference. Its not a perfect world, and some guys got paid to picket, get over it. And I would bet money that by next year 3/4 of the union guys will have been there, and if the foods good will be back. They all go to walmart, and that company has destoyed more real jobs than war did to europe. Picketing a small business like that is tantamount to extortion. Billionaire corporations is another story.
