What a joke of a newspaper! I thought it was supposed to cover Monroe county? All articles revolve around Waterloo and rural Waterloo. And the independent just goes around wedding receptions and golf tournaments taking pictures of drunks. I think it's time Columbia gets it's own paper. It's sad that a get my local news through this trashy site.

Where else am I supposed to get local coverage? I take everything I read on here with a grain of salt, but it can be informative. RT, clarion, independent are all Waterloo focused. Columbia has grown quite a bit, there's plenty of news going on here but no one's covering it. I would gladly pay $25 a year for a Columbia paper.

It's the WATERLOO Republic-Times. It is therefore a WATERLOO paper, and will therefore be WATERLOO focused. enough said.

From the RT, "covering Monroe county and surrounding areas since 1890". Not "waterloo and surrounding areas". So no, it's not the Waterloo republic times.

You say "it's not the Waterloo republic times"??? The title cleary states it IS THE WATERLOO-REPUBLIC TIMES. My response said it is Waterloo focused. I re-state the same thing. It is Waterloo focused. I did not say it should not have other towns included. The website clearly has a picture of the Columbia cheerleaders as one of 3pics shown and there are stories of other towns besides Waterloo weekly in the paper.

You sir, are a dumbass! I have a RT paper in front of me now, nowhere does it say "Waterloo republic-times"! Like I said before, it says "Republic-Times, covering MONROE COUNTY & surrounding areas". I wish it did say Waterloo RT, that would be accurate.

I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE ABOUT THE MONROE COUNTY INDEPENDENT. nothing in there is NEWS WORTHY

The independent is a county tabloid. Republic times is Waterloo news. Clarion is outsourced writers reporting from the courthouse. Columbia is in the dark when it comes to news print. And Columbia is no longer podunk.

Reality was actually not far off on their comment. It was the Waterloo Republic-Times for years before they took the word Waterlo off recently. Probaly not a subscriber anymore I am guessing.
