Oh yeah you will be getting a good screwing. I walked out of my house and witnessed two men from the county sitting in a car across from my house. They had a box full of files and were going through them and signing stuff off on them like they were going out of style. Never got out of their car to look at any properties. The driver saw me and got out of his car and RAN to me, and had me fill out an assessment form. Never looked in back or inside my home. So what I'm saying is they don't do their job correctly and screw everyone in the neighborhood because the are lazy overpaid government employees.

Mo County Independent says they will hit us by the end of the month. It's reported to be a 1.028 multiplier.

Normally it's nothing. Last year it was 1.07. The state is broke and they want the tax payers to cover the out of control state union pensions.

70 per cent to the schools does your money go. Grade school has a principal and an assistant principle, as does the middle school and the high school. How many principals and assistant principles to we need for a school population as small as ours?

Maybe us citizens need to reevaluate the school board members and their tenure.

Property tax burden has slowed Columbia's growth both in residential and business.
When one ways the costs of this tax real estate prices are diminished and marginal biz is extinquished. The great state of Illinois will now shift its pension burden on to property tax payers instead of fixing the problem. LET THE EXODUS begin or should I say continue. Smellen a real future catastrophe.

Which town in Illinois defaults on its bonds in bankruptcy first?
Hint, the one with the biggest union fire, police and Emt departments and most TIFS.

Sniffles, might be Columbia. The board has just about burned through the Capital development fund. The extra revenue from the electric billing dupe will fall short.
The state will only fall further behind on their payments and the infrastructure disrepair will accelerate. Fortunately there will be Music at Metter for the peasants; kinda like the Titanic.

the grewe suit was 150,000 dollars; probable a good investment. The STS suit settlement was 400,000 dollars but tack on another 300,000 dollars for Adams, I believe half the damages were picked up by insurance. The current council is letting Grewe back in the door, shame on them.
