Why not lease or rather rent a Governor on a day by day rate like a rental car? That way we could get rid of his ass if he was not doing the job. This would apply to Democrat as well as Republican or any other flavor of Governor. While we are at it let's just rent a legislature from say Ohio and split the cost with them? Non of these pols work full time anyway!

Doesn't anyone else wonder the same thing as me?
Why in the world are we talking about a set amount on the lease of the Lottery? The article reads at least $1 billion up front and $200 million a year for 30 years. Aren't we telling possible bidders what we want?
Why not put it out to bid with a clause that gives the State to reject any and all bids. That way if the bids are lower than what the State really wants, they can rebid later. With the details released so far on the expectations, we're giving the bidders an idea of the bid amount to work with. Let eh bidder assume the responsibility for calcualting his own bid based upon his own expectations.

No Dems voted for it, and 5 Repubs voted against trying now to save their seat next year.

So can we assume that all of the Dems that voted against it were just trying to save their seat?

Could care less about party affiliation, just doesn't seem to make sense. We are trying to bring more life sciences jobs into the state while Lilly et al are sending more and more of their scientific and research positions to India and China for cheap wages. So with these companies cutting jobs not increasing them it seems we are selling the lottery off to put money down a black hole. Furthermore these are highly technical jobs that the majority of people out of work in Indiana arenít qualified to perform. So what do you think theyíll do, bring in people from other states. I am glad we are putting an initiative in place that will help companies hire out of state workers. A better idea might be to make college free for anyone from Indiana who would like to attend. If I didn't have massive student loans I would be thinking of practicing in Indiana when I graduate law school. Instead I'm going to Chicago where they pay enough that I can live and pay my loans off. Most people leave Indiana because our wages are depressed even if you add in standard of living. I know Chicago is expensive, but it isnít $30,000 a year less in pay expensive. Now if I didnít have loans, I might be willing to take a lower paying job. As a matter of fact I might be willing to take a job at a non-profit that helped the community. Instead my debt is so high, I have to go to the highest bidder so I can afford to eat and pay my loans.

Why is Mitch trying to sell and lease everything in Indiana. People let him in office and he sells the light company, let him in again he wants to sell the bridges and now the lottery. Come on open your eyes!!!!!

I don't oppose his idea of selling a lottery licence. I do oppose his selling it at discounted price for short term gain. The insiders will get a good deal and turn around and resell it for a profit. Profit that should have gone into the state treasury in the first place.
