Three years in jail for stealing $81 worth of scrap metal? How much will that cost the taxpayers of Vermont. Obviously there are other things in play here but that is ridiculous. I like the female judge telling the female defendant that her actions were because of other people in her life. How many times has Carroll ever said that about a male defendant?

hey dummy read the article.. the stoves and other appliances were valued at almost 10 grand, and this woman is also a career criminal who for as long as i knew her before i left vt, had only been a drunk, a serious drug user/dealer, and a friggin thief.. so yea i think 3 yrs is very very light, she probably should've gotta 7-10 for everything in the past

"Judge Karen Carroll said that she believed, from reading about Jones’ history, that much of Jones’ troubles were the result of people who had a negative influence in her life. "

It's not her fault, the evil men in her life are to blame. Just ask man hating judge karen.

...but if you happen to be the sheriff, and you steal SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of goods and trips etc. for you and your lesbian partner to enjoy- then you get a mere slap on the wrist from this same scumsuckin judge and states attorneys, and your felony charges reduced to misdemeanor.

I've know of the "defendant" for more than 20 years. She has always been in and out of jail. Se blames everyone else for her woes. It is shameful! She should have worried about her children instead of whatever low-life man was in her life. The 3 years in jail will cost the we taxpayers less that what welfare will cost for children. It is a lose-lose situation for the taxpayers and her children. She is going to have housing and three square meals a day for FREE.

I feel bad because that teenager she "conned" into helping her is a friend of her teenaged son. That child needs help or we will be reading his name in future police blotters.
