Ah, I remember this from my numismatic boyhood. The other claim to fame for this nickel was that the first year it was produced it did not say "cents" on the back - just a big V for five. Some folks began gold plating the nickel to pass it off as a five dollar gold piece. LOL

Makes me want to dig out the old blue Whitman folders...
