You don't know who I am and I don't know who you are. But in my hand is a very large file with a copy of a multi- million dollar lawsuit that was filed against your employer and the file has copies of letters from your employers attorneys, some patient rep named Ms. Clark and even a letter from Margaret Sabin, your CEO. So you obviously are not well informed. As it should be, they are keeping their wrong doings quite. And they will settle after a time because they know what they did in this case and many others. I could post specifics, including names, dates, and even info from the media but what's the point. Very few people are responding to this thread. I just find the practice of turning away emergency cases outrageous.
What's wrong mitewarrior, cat got you tongue?

I was looking for a intelligent response to Brian's post.

Are we going to hear from you?

The wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Memorial Hospital. The four deaths were from refused ER at Memorial. There is no confusion. FYI, Penrose is also turning away uninsured ER cases. This isn't a laughing matter, GROW UP!

Who's is laughing?

You said you had files in your hand that showed Memorial being sued and then you say the one of the names on the law suits and that name belongs to CEO of Penrose Hospital!

Do you have other files in your hand?

Trust me when I say I really don't have a dog in this fight.

I just stated what I observed when I work at Memorial and the times when I have been a patient there!

I will tell you that they do have problems with some the Doctors and some staff members at Memorial ER!

But I don't see how in the new ER and the way the system works that patients could be turned away without being treated!

Thanks to the dysfunctional revolutionary Government that came to power after the 60s 70s, most Americans do not pay taxes. Perhaps idealistic revolutionary politicians could impose a hospital tax on the non-tax payers. Such a tax could be used as a pool of money to pay for the medical care of non-tax payers, including providing medical care for gang-banging taxpayer funded Thug community activists. Just a suggestion.

I lost my health insurance and could not afford any of the coverages. I went to Memorial Hospital at the Emergency Room and the intake lady said "We are really busy today so we aren't seeing anyone without insurance." I was speechless. I ended up going to the Emergency Clinic on West Bijou where I paid $147 and got the urgent help I needed. I heard a elderly woman was refused service by the ER last year and died on the side of the road at the bus stop on Boulder. It's hard to believe in 2012 this is happening in our great country. You never hear that happening in Canada!

That is one of many examples of how Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs refuses emergency patients because they do not have health insurance. Outragious!

It also states that they participate in the Medicaid Program!

So go blow it out your ass, you stupid F**k!

Not everyone qualifies for Medicaid. And that has nothing to do with my being turned away. You have a toilet for a mouth a s*** for brains.

Just what the world needs another brain dead dipshit airhead and yes I use offensive language!

Oh! By the way, there is a federal law that keeps any hospital from turning away patients for any reason!

They can't even ask anyone if they are here legally!

If you donít believe me and you really think that Memorial Hospital turns people away, just sit in the Memorial ER waiting room and see how good the staff takes care of the indigent patients!

It is a hell of a long wait at times, but everyone will be seen!

The main reason someone might not qualify for Medicaid is that they make too much money!

If that is the case; they should quit getting tattoos, cell phones, internet, computers, cable and large screen 3D LCD TVís and spend the money they would save on medical insurance!

Better that scenario, than having the American people pick up the tab for their selfishness and lack of financial responsibility!

SO BUGGER OFF!

You must be very young, I'd say early twenties? Because you are both wrong and naive. FACT: I was turned away from the ER for being uninsured. FACT: I am not the only person turned away from Memorial Hospital for being uninsured. FACT: I am a retired high school teacher in my 70's and my sole income is Social Security. That income is poverty wages and yet I do not qualify for Medicaid because I support a six year old grand daughter who lives with me because her mother, my daughter was killed in a car accident last November. If I lived alone I'd qualify for Medicaid. The requirements are flawed.

One of the other posts on this thread said that they were told that someone on staff said that "Memorial Hospital is a private hospital" and is not governed by the federal law or Act passed by Congress that says a hospital cannot turn someone away seeking emergency care. But Memorial Hospital turns us away. And if someone has a past due balance in collections Memorial has a history of turning those folks away too. I am a grandmother who worked all my life but lost my savings and other assets in 2001 and 2008. I wasn't irresponsible but things just happen that people have no control over. Life happens. As a result I do not have health coverage. I simply cannot afford taking care of my grand daughter and make payments to Medicare or a insurance company.

My family moved to Security, Colorado in 1958!

I had my first encounter dealt with Memorial Hospital when I worked or E&E Ambulance 75-76 and I was never told to take the patient to St. Francis Hospital!

At that time St. Francis Hospital and Penrose Hospital were the big ER's for Colorado Springs!

I also worked at Memorial for 9 years and I never heard of anyone being turned away!

Memorial is a city run Hospital and has been for a very long time!

You must have been a teacher from outside of Colorado, because if you retired from teaching here in Colorado you would be receiving a retirement check from PERA!

The person who posted Memorial is a private hospital is a damn liar!

You are not very smart for a teacher, because you should know that all hospitals must be certified by the state and federal government!

This means they must obey they all state and federal laws governing hospitals!

There are wait times that make a person feel like they are being ignored, but the more critical the patient the quicker they are seen!

I don't believe you were turned away, because if you were you would be laughing all the way to bank!

You can't qualify for Medicaid, because you are eligible for Medicare because of your age (over 65)!

Your post is flawed!

By the way, I passed 21 many years ago!

You cannot say for a fact that any of the above you just rattled off is true. And you do not walk in my shoes so don't think you know me or my situation. You don't. Based on your posts it's clear that you are not a doctor or nurse at the hospital. Your writing style makes me wonder if you graduated High School. So you are most likely a janitor or office assistant. And you are basing your defense of Memorial Hospital on what you see and think you know, not actual experience working the reception or intake desks in the ER. So bottom-line, you don't know what you are talking about. There is no defense of a public community hospital that turns away injured or sick Emergency Room patients because they either owe a past due balance or do not have health insurance. There are new stories of this type of thing coming out of people's experiences with Memorial Hospital every month. Isn't it strange that Penrose doesn't have the same reputation?

I have given you facts that you can try to disprove, if you think you can!

Your post was so full of holes that it wouldn't even make a good sive!

I have forgotten more than you will ever know, so piss off!

I'll be back to tear this post apart later this afternoon!

Oh, so you are a troll. Well you still can't change the fact that I was denied ER treatment at Memorial Hospital because I didn't have health insurance.

So troll around all you want. I have a life so I won't be back.
