I took a rifle in to this shop to have some work done. Received an estimate stating that it would be 10 days, or less, and one hour of labor at $65 per hour. Anything over the estimate, be it parts or labor and I was to receive a call for approval.
After two weeks inquiries were made as to the status on the rifle (By inquiry, I mean that I made calls that went unreturned and had to physically go to the shop to get answers) At the two week mark the rifle hadn't even been looked at. An extension was given, promises to call were made. Neither actually happened. At week three still no word, or returned call. Another visit. Another extension. Week four showed progress. The rifle was actually taken apart, parts had been ordered. When questioned as to why I did not receive a call to approve the $60 in parts per our agreement - see the original estimate - he just acted like this was a normal way to do business, because he "does not have time to call all of his customers back."
At this point I was told he would call me when the parts came in. That did not transpire, shockingly. I went to pick up my rifle, paid for the parts and was given the rest of the parts removed from said rifle in a plastic bag.(Whether they are all accounted for or not remains to be seen, as I am not a gunsmith, see the problem?)
As I went to leave I was repeatedly told how he - the owner- had lost money on this deal - how I should have known what parts were needed to fix the rifle - how I was killing small businesses. I took this in stride, as the way I see it I am the customer. We had an agreement. He breached the contract by over three weeks, as well as by ordering parts that he didn't inform me of - per the original agreement.
As I left the store front he followed me into the parking lot to continue his verbal assault. Apparently, I was supposed to know what was wrong with the rifle, the parts needed and how to fix it. Kind of negating the need for a gunsmith in the first place.
All in all it was a learning experience for me. I will continue to support small businesses, just not this one.

ya that guy isnt the sharpest tool in the shed by any means. does he even have a license? i didnt see one hanging up (its supposed to be in plain view). I would use Dragon Mans in springs if u nee work done. if he cant do it he surely knows who can!
