I think it is agreed that present and past residents should begin posting stories about Colorado City Texas.

Yea!!! I am glad you all noticed that thread was gone. Can the mediator bring it back? There were so many great memories on it. I started it a while back and really enjoyed all the positive comments everyone made about C-City. When you look at other town's posts on Topix, there are so many negative things being said about their towns BUT C-City had lots of positive memories being talked about. I learned that so many of you all thought it was like the movie American Graffitti. Everyone seemed to have experienced the closeness that you feel in that movie at one time or another in C-City.
So come on everyone....share your memories of C-City.......let everyone know how great C-City was and still is!!! What is your favorite memory of time you spent in Colorado City, Texas. My favorite is all the time I spent at the lake with my Grandmother Bertha( a lot of you) Simpson. Water skiing in that muddy old water and loving every minute of it. We would get up early in the A.M. and ski...then Buffa would have breakfast ready....we would eat and then go back out and ski....then eat lunch and go BACK out and ski...phew it wears me out just remembering it...but I wouldn't trade those times for anything.
Awwwwwwww....memories :)

I was born in C-City in 1940. I left there in 1957 when I was 17 years old. I joined the Air Force because I wanted to travel and see the world. I did travel but always called C-City home. It was my hometown. I stumbled across this thred one day and really was enjoying it. None of you people were around when I was terrorizing the neigborhood, but I stilled enjoyed the thred. I now live in Idaho Falls Idaho and love it very much but old C-City is my hometown. If you find mistakes in my grammer or spelling remember I went to CHS. Take care everyone and hope can keep the thred alive

My grandparents lived in Colorado City until the late 60's. I think their house was on 21st street. My mom was raised there. As a child I loved it. Everything from the downtown to the city park.My grandmother's brother was the sherriff. I visited in 2008 not much has changed. Sometimes no change is good. It was just as I remebered.
You can keep the change

If we can't get back to the "good 'ole days" at least it is good and comforting to REMEMBER them. I have such good memories of spending summers in C-City with my grandparents and friends. I love reuniting with old friends from C-City....even if it is just online. Everything seemed so simple and innocent back then. People were so friendly in C-City....I am sure they still are. I still hope that someday soon I can get back there to check things out.

I am so happy for Colorado sounds like things are going to be looking up soon for the economy with the oil boom that is expected to happen. That is wonderful. I remember stories that my grandmother and mom used to tell when in the 1950's the oil boom was happening. They would sit up all night with the "wildcatters" waiting to strike oil. It sounded very exciting. I hope it gets that wild and crazy again for C City.
