I guess everyone would have been okay if the prophet decided to kill off members or kids by cyanide poisoning or incinerating individuals.

Sounds like this place was another 'Jim Jones, November 18, 1978 mass murder-suicide which killed off most of his followers. Over 900 people died in that.

They were afraid of another Jim Jones or Waco. If nothing else, they got into the compound to get an idea of what was going on.

Wonder if they had places to hide other people like the tunnels and hideaway places.

There were places to hide in WJ's old house, now torn down, I do believe.

There were lots of places to hide, it showed that on one of the programmes which has been on. I have been listening to the speculation on this man and the cyanide, it seems to me some of these people are so bought into this profit they would live and die for him, but what i dont get is he is supposed to be their messenger from GOD. Now i am not religious but isnt suicide in the bible a sin??? how does that work if these cults do go for the mass suicide, no matter how you dress it up its suicide, which is a sin, i do belive.

They believe we are living in the end times. They believe in the second coming and that all the evil people (like me) will die and it will only be the FLDS on earth and their way will become the ONLY way.

They don't want their kids hearing fairy tales or being exposed to tinker bell, but they use the Mormon books to brainwash them night and day.

If that's all you know and all you hear, that's what you believe. You can see the fear in the kids' eyes when media is around or sometimes even defiance. They either scowl or look down, mostly silent.

They believe that whatever happens to their kids in their world is nothing compared to what might happen to them out in the mainstream world.

More than cyanide, they have the kids and people drink raw milk which is a health hazard, but they don't seem to worry.

They also don't vaccinate their children and because they are isolated, I guess it works out for them. They said they are not sure what would happen in more mainstream society. The kids did get chicken pox and it spread around. They apparently don't worry about polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus or mumps and measles.

They like to go back to the time when they didn't have those vaccines and you take your chances. It's like rolling back the clock.
