Per Colorado Record...."I was offered a contract to make sure I was here to do it. Kampfer said. "My contract is with the City Council, not the people."

Really?

I am so glad someone posted this, I saw it and thought the same thing. Did you notice they included an article about an award he had won, evidently not in public relations, LOL!!

I understand that a councilman said when asked about the article, that city manager was misquoted, this weeks editoral by earl plagens proves this wrong, editoral is bias opinion of paper, colorado city record does not print letters to the editor that is written about city manager,so much for freemdom of speech and freedom of press in colorado city.
Check the years back City has always faced problems with TCEQ,
city manager believes selling out these services is the way out,
seems someone is looking to make a profit at citizens expense..
In my opinion city mananger was involved (lead)backroom politics,
by not posting public meeting correctly,he was going behind the citizens back to get his contract extended. I don't like deceit, city mananger has shown his lack of ethics,do the citizens here want to continue another contract with this man? I would the answer is NO..I urge you to contact city council members, the mayor,or speak at city council meeting 2nd tues of this month,
against this contract.

Interesting how Plagens now thinks he is the moral compass of Colorado City. I don't see how it will do any good to contact the City Council...the City Manager has them in his back pocket, along with the newspaper.

I will call and go to council meeting and public comment.

Well, at least Plagens has enough guts to sign his name to it. Guess that makes him a better man than us.

I would advise sal gal to buy her own newspaper and print whatever trash she wants.

You have no idea what you're even talking about. It looks like you know just enough to sound informed but not enough to be right or even accurate. Why would the paper print your opinions when they are passed off as absolute fact (and worse legal advice)?

If you are who I think you are, you're opinion has less than zero weight. Please, you have already screwed up the housing authority to the point it barely functions, focus on the PJs and leave city decision making to business owners and those with half a lick of sense.

Thank you Earl for keeping some check on sanity around here. I commend you having the restraint to keep the worse loonies off you're pages.

Plagens has a check on sanity???? That's the funniest thing I have heard in such a long time. That newspaper prints whatever Kampfer, Reily and Anderson tell him to, everyone has the figured out by now. And if I remember right, seems like it was Reily who made the Housing Authority such a circus.
Kampfer will be the downfall of this town and if they approve another 3 year contract, when election time comes around, I pray some new people get elected and get rid of the guy, just like Paris Tx had to do.

Let them alone: They be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall into the ditch.~Matthew 15:14
I again urge the citizens to call council members and express their opinions of issues and interest to them,do not send them in blind, they can't lead if you do not guide.

I would advise you to look up the word "opinion" in the dictionary, in short it means your thoughts. If you spent a 1/3 of the time Salgal does doing research you might be able to write a productive post on this forum. You may not agree with her, but at least she is involved in the community. Earl Plaggens is about making money as most businessmen are and as long as ink stays the price it is he will preserve his advertisers. It is important to know all views and posting hostile character attacking trash is not productive. If you are too lazy to learn about a topic and post a thought-provoking opinion it would seem more productive to stop embarassing the community with your negative spew.

Why did the Council try to cover-up the City Manager's contract in the agenda last time?? Makes you wonder what else they are covering up and not telling the people of this city. If your that pleased with the man, put it on the agenda correctly so your citizens know what is being discussed. I don't think they should extend it until after the elections in May, because with any luck there will be a whole new council at that time.

Has the City Council ever handled a city manager's contract any differently on the agenda in the history of Colorado City? I bet if you look back to issues concerning any previous manager you will find that the agenda was posted in the exact same way.

I think you might be looking for some complex dark scheme where the reality is that some staff member was just doing things like they had been taught, had done for the past twenty years and had never suspected there was a reason to do it differently.

Not sure if your information is right, but I can find out easily enough. Maybe no one cared enough in the past to call them out on it? I did find out PK pulled the same thing though in Paris Texas and that town had to buy him out to get rid of him.

Kampfer is showing he is worth the money. He is not only city manager but police chief, lead detective and spokesman for the Texas Ranger, DPS, Mitchell County, FBI, Colorado PD. He is proving Colorado does not need a police dept. Have you seen anyone from Colorado PD on any news programs since the Dunn girl has gone missing. Just old Peter. He is all Colorado needs to prosper without a PD. He does not need a fire dept, water works, street crew, anything. Peter can do it all.

It seems to me that a whole bunch of you need to take a class on Government in the good old USA. And as to one person being smarter than another - I will believe it when I see it. And for those of you out here who think that you know more than others- All I have to say is if you did then there would be no one complaining. Secondly censorship is totally un-american, and could be considered natzism.

The funny thing about all this is the special interest group putting everything on an express lane of "not a lie, but not the truth just skewed'agendas. All the city elects and other kickbackers need to take a course on how to fool people. The first chapter would be, Not to Move too Fast. So obvious C-City! I guess Texas can pull the I.V. on C-CITY now unless you want to prolong it a little longer?

Colorado City is going down really fast. P.K. hates women and any race other than whites. All the council people that are up for election need to go. All of them including City pro-tem mayor, Hiser. He lies constantly, said he would not run for mayor under any circumstances, now he says he will run. Great legacy for your son. From Colorado City? Get people to run for council. Several members on council do whatever Kampfer wants and don't even read the agenda or talk to the people in their district. Police Dept. is great if P.K. stayed out of their business. Thinks Chief is too young for the job. He will be the next forced out.

Abilene new reported yesterday that Kampfer
will hire 2 police officers, as we all know he deleted the positions..
