Oh what's really wrong with you, citysuggestion? Did she turn your water off for nonpayment and wouldn't turn it back on until you did?

What would you know about professionalism?

You attack someone you don't even know.

Go help with the community garden and get rid of your anger.

Is this for real is the city really selling water to a oil company? Was it not just a few months ago the mayor and head of the water department were whining about how the farmers and landowners were using all of the city's water? They city's well fields are not even close to the city of Colorado City if anything Loraine should be pissed that the city of Colorado City is coming over there and getting their water if they want to think of it that way but according to the state of Texas and I agree that the water is the property of the landowner and only the landowner to do with as he or she sees fit!

I just happen to have picture of a truck hooked up to the fire hydrant behind the Admin. building! When I read the original post on here (which for some reason has been deleted)I DID GO CHECK IT OUT MYSELF and caught Basic Energy truck in the act of filling up their truck with our water!
Now keep in mind, this is water that the City has already processed for citizen use that is now going to the oilfield.
It is not just a rumor. It is a fact.
And I'm sure you will get this comment deleted too.

Good, take that picture to the city and talk to the City Manager. Then show it to and talk to your city council people. Show it to the newspaper. Tell them how you feel. They don't read minds. You might also give a copy to the police. They are very interested in theft of any kind.

Someone sold a bunch of water from the community garden area by telling the lady working there that it was for the Fire Department. WRONG. She did not bother check it out and they got away with OUR property, costing us tax dollars.

Just call over to Basic Energy's office in Sweetwater and see who they have the contract with and where they are taking the water. ALL trucking companies are going to have a contract with who they are getting water from, to protect themselves legally. And I doubt that they would help themselves to water out of a hydrant in the middle of Colorado City, in the middle of the day without a full permission.

To get to the bottom, Go strait to the source.

I just called over to Basic in sweetwater and the gentleman said that Basic is contracted (to just haul water) with a company called Excell construction whom is doing a project in China Grove. He said that the contract to get the water is between the City of Colorado City & Excell Construction but he was sure there is in fact a contract.
So, not only is the city in fact selling our water, but it is leaving Mitchell County.

I am pretty sure China Grove is part of Mitchell County

Depends where the project is in China Grove. Scurry County or Mitchell County side. EITHER WAY, THE CITY IS STILL SELLING OUR WATER THAT WE DO NOT HAVE TO SPARE!

So the question remains, is it legal for the City to sell water out of a hydrant for commercial use? What are the rules and regulations for hydrants? Or who can we call to find out if the City is in compliance?
