Congratulations ! By now you have received your invitation to the Junktique fundraiser this Saturday at the Civic Center !! How convenient the small story in the paper was placed lower down, almost out of eye catching range ....like maybe we wouldnt see it?
Do you suppose if some of us less ELite showed up, they would take our money and let us in? I bet they would! When Junktique doesnt make the grade this year, it wont be because people arent interested, it will be because of attitudes like this that will cause it to fail...then, you,... Elite ones will be to blame!

I guess I am not one because I didn't recieve anything either...I heard tickets were way too expensive anyway. No plans on going to Junktique either, not after the way they treated Mrs. Scott and some of the former Board Members.

I don't recall ever getting an invitation, to any event main street has ever organized. Most of those events were meant for an "elite" crowd of small group of personal cronies. As far as this last event goes, I didn't attend but it is my understanding that invitations were sent out to members of the chamber of commerce b/c they had those addresses on hand and this was an idea Sue Young from BOED came up with only a short while ago to try to help the program. I also heard it raised over $2500.00 for main street.

I don't really think anyone in C-City could call themselves "elite." Why don't you guys move on with your lives.

Really, we've been talking a Cecelia Scott for months now. Everyone agrees the way Kampher treated her was wrong, no matter what kind of employee she was.

It's a pretty tired subject now. It really does seem at that a small group of people are out to bring anything that has to do with ya'lls main street program down now matter what good things it does now.

Anyone who really cares about the downtown and not just their personal friends would agree that its time to move on.

I guess I'm elite, lol, I've never put myself in that category. I just saw the ad in the paper and bought a ticket. They were pricey, but it went to a good cause and was fun. We had good food. I'd say seventy people were there (they didn't dress especially elite, I saw lots of shorts :). The movie Giant was neat, I hadn't been in the theater recently, its nice. We got to take a peak at the inside of the Baker Hotel. They also had a good idea to project photos of historic paintings and old buildings downtown onto the Baker Hotel. That was neat.

I really liked Cecilia. Still do. I didn't like how she was treated, but that was PK's fault not the people involved now. After all they're all volunteers or employees who came after the fact. I support the community and the current Main Street folks seem to be trying to do good and have some new ideas.

Tired (above) is right eventually everyone needs to get along again.

I think the people running Main Street are just hurting themselves by letting the BOED Director handle some of these events. The employees did not come after the fact..they were just given new titles and responsibilities. Some of the volunteers are new, but they treated some of the older volunteers so badly that they have lost them. I think there are legitimate concerns about PK and his lack of ethics, and that can only reflec badly upon the City and City Council.

And I think it's pretty easy to say "move on" unless you were actually involved in the mess that happened with Mrs. Scott. And let me tell you, Sue Young didn't come up with anything new....my husband and I recieved several invitations last year to Main Street events, so mailing out invites isn't anything "new". We did not recieve one to this event however, so I think Ms. Young's address list was pretty well dictated by who she wanted invited and who she did not want invited.

Well, I've never recieved a personal invite to a main street event before this year, so if Young was picking and choosing, I guess she's no better (or worse) than those making up the mailing list in years past. Looks like you just traded one "elitist" for anonther.

I don't care if you have a problem with the lady, but the truth is that she holds the keys to county funds, so I think she probably has a place on that board. If she's strong willed or vindictive (I've honestly never visited with her so I can't say) the other current directors just have to be strong enough to make sure everything is fair and people are treated right going FORWARD.

All I'm really saying is that its not right to condemn a whole program that is still doing a good job, just b/c you don't like one or more of the people on the board or the bosses running the city. I think my mom would have said that if care for something as much as you obviously do, you should make it a point to get back involved and make a difference. She would also say that two wrongs don't make a right.

Bad Attitude, So you can see who is basically going to be runnning Main Street? right?? Yes, its true, she holds the County in the palm of her hand, makes a great salary, but where are the new businesses? I still love the fact we have Main Street, it is a very prestigous honor to have received it from the State!! I just dont love the fact, that she can treat people however she chooses, and gets away with it! Your mom wouldnt like someone calling ugly names, now would she?
BTW, I have a great attitude, I support this community, buy at home every time I can, Im all for moving FORWARD, however, there is no way to make some people understand, they cannot have their way all of the time!

All I can think to say is "Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way" People are trying to move this town forward. Don't get on their back and drag your feet. Get involved.

Just be careful not to hurt people who aren't doing the things you're saying Young is and who are trying to help out the town the best way they can. There are still good people involved also.

If you hurt them to get at one or two others you're no better than PK or the council members who have an agenda.

Bell, Ding Dong. Get on the wagon don't hold on to the tail gate and drag your feet. Would it not be a lot easier to join with these folks and offer your ideas and work with them instead of bitching about everything they do. I know you care about C-City and the people of C-City care about you, please join us.

Slim....what do you do when you have tried to work with "these people" and were treated like crap?? When you were told you had to agree with everything and not have your own opinion? When your efforts were sabotaged and constantly undermined? When all the hours of hard work you spent away from your family are not even appreciated or valued at all? And then what do you do when you know PK is a liar and unethical and you can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth, yet he insists on being at every meeting and trying to run the show?? Please tell me what to do in that case...

You do like Cecilia Scott, hold your head up high and start another project. I plan to go to Petticoats on the Prairie on October 22-23 at Black Locust Farm in Ira. I am looking forward to it.

I guess I am not one of the "elite" because I didn't know anything about Petticoats on the Prairie. Seems like there are several "elite" lists.... and I am not on any of them.
