I am just in shock after hearing the news that the City Council has voted to extend City Manager's contract till 2013?? Are these elected officials not listening or hearing anyone who has concerns about this man? Now we are stuck with the dictator even if the current Mayor and Council (which I certainly hope is the case) are not re-elected come May 2011. Sneaky politics are alive and well here in C-City.

unbelievable! vote them OUT asap-

His wife doesn't even like this little podunk town--- didn't want to move here.

I do NOT believe he will be here in 2013 because the town is sick of him and the newly elected will surely have some ears and brains. Problem is, that they will be buying him out at our expense!

He has said to several people that he is just building his resume--- GREAT- at the expense of Colorado City.

How can someone who LIES, STEALS (intellectual and artistic property), STOMPS on PEOPLE,
ABUSES his POWER AND POSIRION, and on and on, be rewarded with an extended contract?

PU- LEESE!

I don't always think our leaders make all the right decisions, I don't agree with most of our presidents decisions BUT does that does not mean that we don't still try to be positive, support & pray for them. I think if people would start acting like the christians they potray themselves to be & pray for our leadership, our town will move forward in a good & positive direction! You don't have to like all of pete's decisions, but stop bashing him on here, its not getting you anywhere and its waisting your energy on angreeness. Forgive & move forward, support pete & see if you don't get a positive reaction from him. Give him words of encoragment instead of hate. Tell him your concerns & leave your anger at the door. I love colorado city & hope you all do to enough to stop all the negativity.

I agree with "pray about it", enough is enough... "Heavengolightly" said that his wife doesn't like this town right? Ask yourself, how would you like to read stuff about your spouse like yall have posted about pete on here? She didn't exactly get a warm welcome to our town. She could be a great asset to this town given the chance! That would consist of some folks putting they're pride & opinions aside! I know how protective I am about my spouse & can not imagine how pete's wife must feel with some of the things that have been said.

I am sorry but Colorado City has become almost the ultimate reality tv show ..... And next week on "The City " Keith plans his rule over the empire with mat elections approaching , meanwhile Pete goes on air yet again to tell everyone what he's done while claiming his pay raise was only part of his contract. But watch what happens whne he gets back to city hall.....

Such good points made by "pray about it" and "give it a chance". I never really believed there were so many haters in this town. I thought we cared for one another, that is why I have chosen to stay in this town. As far as people moving out, I don't see that happening. I don't think Mrs. Kampfer hates it here. And Pirate, if this is reality show, don't forget the episode where all the haters in town try to stir up trouble for those who are trying to make change.

I have never even seen Pete's wife or met her...but I am curious as to why someone would think she wasn't given a warm welcome here. As for Pete, in my opinion, he has been given a chance and to many people he has proved himself to be a liar. He is good at saying the right words, but his actions don't line up with what he says. He is just out for himself and if you listen to him for more than 5 minutes it's pretty easy to figure that out. He will continue to contract out because he really does not care about the people of Colorado City. Sadly, if you look up the definition of a sociopath, he fits many of the criteria. The fact that the City Council extended his contract is a joke. These are elected people, yet they are hiding behind this man. They are not listening to their constituents at all. Margaret Brown and Sue Mason were talked into running by Carol Sue Dakan, but are now regretting their choice. They have made it clear they are not seeking relection, so they probably voted yes just to get along until their terms expire. Keith Hiser has already made it known he is running for Mayor, because he is so much smarter and holier than than the rest of us, so he isn't going to care what his constituents tell him anyways. Brookshear is just happy the City Manager is pretending to like him and listen to him, so he voted yes too. Not sure what the motivation was for Alvarez and Castillo, but they all made a huge mistake in extending this man's contract. So while it's nice to say, come on, give the guy a chance, many of us have done that already and have been burned. It's just a matter of time before it happens to you.

Just a few posts from the time when PK was in Paris...

"Pete Kampfer is never at fault, he always does things perfectly. He wants the city manager's job, it's that simple. So he will slant things to make himself look good and everyone else bad. He is very much like SB - knows everything, and nothing he says is wrong. Yes, I do know him, and I don't trust him."

"Snake oil salesman was the best I could come up with at the moment. He is definitely very fond of himself, always talking about "when I did this" "when I was....." Slimey comes to mind also."

"In my opinion, PK as city manager would be as close to hell on earth as you would ever care to be."

"Don't know PK and do not want to know him. He struck quick, like a snake, regarding the city manager and his evaluation issue. Hope the snake gets his head cut off, along with Brown and Pickle. Wake up you idiots."

And if you do some more checking, you will find PK was not liked anywhere he was. We feel bad for yall-hope the Council will cut it's losses at some point and get rid of him.

To our friends in Paris, TX.
When Mr. Kampfer was hired, over a dozen civic leaders were interviewed about him. Every one of them spoke very highly of him. These are your civic and community leaders. So, we take your opinion with a grain of salt.

They were trying to get rid of him . Sorry for your bad luck, but glad he's gone from Paris. BTW, we don't like our civic leaders here.

The Council went into executive session as per Texas Open Meeting Act section 551.074,which states they can for personnel, purchase of real property, ect. BUT they should also go by Section 551.041 provides that "(a)governmental body shall give written notice of the date, time, hour, place and SUBJECT of each meeting held by the governmental body".The notice must identify the subjects of ALL deliberations, including those that may take place in executive session. The notice must be sufficient to inform the general public of the subjects to be considered, and if a subject is of particular interest to the community, more specificity may be required. some cases that been applied to this test. Cox Enter.Inc.V Board of Trustees of Austin Indep. Sch. Dist., 706 S.W. 2d. 956, 959 (Tex. 1986) Finlan V City of Dallas, 888F. Supp.79,783(N.D. Tex. 1995). The Council should make the executive session portion of this meeting null and void as they did not follow the Texas Open Meetings Act, the agenda stated exectuive session personnel, real property, therfore the notice was insufficient,Kampher's extention should be put in the "sunshine" to let the citizens have a chance to express to the council how they feel about the subject. I have sent this to every council member, the local radio stations, and as letter to the editor. The only other option is to file with DA. The council has had training in the Texas Open Meeting Act, all elected and appointed officials have to have this and are issued a certificate, the training is free,so ignorance is no excuse. Government in the "sunshine", even in C.City

The city council agenda only stated personal..NOT stating discussion of extension of city managers contract, I think most agreed this council would have given him the extension, but why be sneaky about it? I commend Castillo for stating the city needs to get pricing up front regarding the work on the Baker Hotel, isnt it nice how Mr, Hiser felt the need to explain what Castillo meant.. there goes Hiser's smarter and holier than thou attitude again! from previously written, HIser and Dakan will be candidates for next mayor's election? been reading other towns on Topix, "pray about it", and all you who think this town is a bunch of haters.... c city topix aint nothing compared to what i have read elsewhere!
all in all c city topix is very tame...BTW, i take exception to town haters..that aint true, and most of us know it! except those who "rise" above ....

Crew11....duh!! What are they gonna say? Hmm is right..they WANTED to get rid of the dictator!! If the Colorado City Council had put his extension up to a public vote..the results would have been very different. Instead, they didn't even want to put it on the agenda because they knew there would be some backlash. Sneaky and underhanded. A City Council to be proud of for sure! You have to wonder when a man is hated EVERYWHERE he goes.

Salgal...you make an interesting point. The item on the agenda should have clearly stated they were considering extending the City Manager's contract. So much for honesty and openness in our City government. And it will only get worse if Hiser gets elected as Mayor.

Why should this suprise anyone ? This is the same way the fire department descision was made and also the descision to hire a financial officer. As for crew11 , 1. I am not a hater , I just state the obvious and 2. You take peoples opinions with a "grain of salt" ... wait you must be on city council.
