Are we becoming a coarser people?
Were Americans once a kinder people? Today Americans with high-tech drones driven by computers kill civilians we don't know in parts of the world we don't know.

Ditto. Anyone with 1/2 gram of common sense could see this coming 15 years ago. I am amazed how selfish and self-centered many of us are becomming because of our electronic make-believe world and our full disconnet with the real world around us. If you don't think you're a drone, then try spending 1, just one day of your life in the near future without any technology devices in your hand or held up to your head. Not even TV. Then see if you still have the where-with-all to think, ponder, reason, and spend a day as a real person again. Who knows, you may even talk to someone, take a walk, read a real book, sing, write a letter on paper, or play frizbee with your friends or dog again. If you want to be less controlled and get real, then get back to basics! I did and I love it. I haven't had TV in 4 years. I check emails once a week. I'm starting to live again.

I could not agree more! People need to stop thinking they are the only one out there and the world revolves around them. I am sick of rude and mean people and the attitude of the people whose job it is to enforce the rules pretend they are above the law unlike the rest of us. Then they tell the kids not to be bullies etc. they are the biggest bullies out there!

I also agree. When I started in my chosen profession, to serve the ill and infirm as a RN 30 years ago, folks with whom I worked and had the "misfortune" to work as my team mate in the milieu I had been in at the time, the expectation was that one had to work within the confines of the expectation of the leader and the policies set into motion for the facility to retain the best and give proper care to the ill and infirm. I felt that all had the same dignity, irrespective of the present position in life, whether patient or employee.
As time went on, it seemed that I retained these precepts, but the lesser educated employees increasingly took advantage of the fact that the management was gone for the day, giving the employee 'under my rank', for lack of proper verbiage, license to "loaf" as it were.
Using a tactic called' theory Y' in the day, I would use common sense and reason, pointing toward empathy, humanity, the fact that " tomorrow" they also would be in the same position and would like to have a modicum of comfort and a friendly face to look upon to see needs met.
I grew older, the present rapidly turning in to the past and the future rolling in like a thunderstorm, I lost sight of the fact that all did not share my concerns and some even had the facial demeanor of open hostility toward the sick, as if it were an inconvenience for them that they had to perform care in a personable and friendly manner, the job entailing dirty and often seemingly demeaning duties. I would be right along side the co-worker and remind them, it could be their mother or father in that bed.
The years rolled on and it was my fault that I had such "grand" expectations for an employee to work within the confines of the duties and responsibilities assigned to them, cheerfully.
The management sided with them, the employee as they jaded the truths given them, to the management, as I stood on the carpet, defending myself, in order to keep my employment and earn "my daily bread", becoming an "ogre" because the subservient employee blatantly broke the rules of lunches and breaks, even relieving patients of their belongings on occasion, defiantly opposing me, threats of reappraisal and open hostility, often of a sexual nature or threats of harm to my poor helpless car out in the parking lot or my person. I was in the wrong for such grandiose expectations whilst the patient lay in their feces and urine, unkempt, unfed and un-hydrated, often the aide would be sitting in the patients room, eating their dinner and watching their TV, the patient too intimidated to even say a word to me or family, for fear of reappraisal.
I became the culprit and 30 years now, one year shy of half my life, I dream of the day that I might draw my social security, providing such a thing exists in the coming few years.
The managers are at an impasse, not having the 'guts' to reprimand or to dismiss, because of corporate compliance, the almighty dollar, as the lowest paid are subsidized by the government to be on a job instead of drawing from the public dole. Little did I realize. I do now.
I am/plan to die in my house, either by the hand of GOD ALMIGHTY, of by my own hand, than to be subject to the care rendered to the poor unfortunates who worked their whole life, to have the winter of their life subject to appalling treatment I had witnessed growing more staunch in the facilities I had the fortune to supervise and console the patient as they lie in such appalling conditions. Yes, I cast my vote, the people are becoming coarser, lack of empathy and neglect, taught to themby their government fed parents who had taught them these concepts. GOD help us all.

Hear, Hear I could not agree with you more on this subject. People have no manners they could care less if they walk all over you. Their kids are spoiled brats who wouldn't know how to behave if they tried. In fact it is my opinion that children should have to pass a test before they can be allowed to come out in public, and even then they should be kept on a leash! There is nothing sadder than when you go into a restaurant and the whole family is sitting there checking their cell phones etc. and ignoring each other as if they are on their own planet! And the world revolves around them.

Now that I am a grand-parent, I can see where my parents and grand parents were swift to swing the palm of their hand in the direction of my(and others) bottoms when I was a child. They knew, and now I know. The PC, liberal, progressive crowd want to control how someone raises their children, because they and the government know best. BS, it is time we take our country back and put sanity back into our world. Just remember this fact the next time you vote. Who is going to take away your freedoms and rights? Remember the constitution, and most of all the 1st and 2nd amendments-----don't loose them.

You are so right my friend we need to stand up and start taking our rights back one by one, and if that means a fight then fight we must! Our country is slowly being destroyed by the nannies who are running this country into the ground. Someday we will all wake up in reeducation camps and we will only have ourselves to blame. FIGHT ON MY FRIENDS!

The first thing we need to do is clean up the educational system. The socialist "teachers" are brain-washing our youth into being "good little Marxists". Todays kids don't have a clue about the truth.

You got that right my friend they keep the kids so stupid now that is how they manage to stay in their comfy little positions in government and teachers and law enforcement. The more we give up the more they want to take from us. Just observe the gun situation, do you really think they will stop at that.
