well some of you may know elle and blair for there youtube vidoes about make-up.or lisa and elizabeth someone you went to school with or a neighbor.well i am a subscriber to there youtube videos and i was giving a site to go to to see the truth about them.i went to google.typed in the truth about elle and blair.and sure enough they are using fake names,which is not the thing that disapointed me.i do understand why you dont want no one to know were you live or work go to school etc.but when you go on tv and do newspaper interviews using your real names you cant exspect no one to find out. i really think the subscribers do deserve an apology.i have all kinds of stuff proving that they have lied about different stuff.1.when elle did a whats in my purse video she had a keychain from glitzy glam with a L on it.(lisa) and said get it (elle)L=Lisa L=elle..and she also showed on one of her videos a picture that hannah (emily) had drawed for her.and at the top it had emily instead of hannah!! i read another article about them gettin paid big money for all the reviews they do.
they only think im saying is why dont you just confess to your subscribers that you all have indeed lied about this stuff and that you only did it for privacy purposes or security. but the only thing that i dont understand is if you did it for that reason then why would you show your face on youtube and lie about your name.?? i am so confused....

I'm just going to preface this by saying that i am NOT a subscriber to either Elle or Blair, nor do I know them personally; I do,however, watch their videos on occasion and as a result have recently become aware of this situation.
This whole big uproar is kind of pathetic. First of all, everybody who is complaining about Elle and Blair earning money for their videos?
NEWSFLASH: ANYBODY - NOT JUST MAKEUP GURUS - ANYBODY WHO IS A YOUTUBE PARTNER GETS MONEY FOR MAKING VIDEOS.
YouTube has certain specifications - ie, number of subscribers, channel views, etcetera -which, if an account holder (person who has a channel on youtube) meets, allows them to become a YouTube partner and EARN MONEY FOR POSTING ON YOUTUBE.
that's right, it's not just these two girls who are suddenly the subjects of such intense backlash.
Secondly, about them getting paid to promote things, or receiving free products, Elle and Blair have been nothing but honest about when they have been given products for free, or when they've been asked to review products. Not only that, but they've made it clear that they DO NOT GET PAID to do it. They have also openly discussed the fact that if they do not like a product, they will not review it, or they will tell you that they didn't like it and why. This isn't done for them to earn money - it's done for their viewers to learn about new, interesting products which subscribers or video viewers may wish to use themselves.
Finally, about the "names" controversy, they have absolutely every right not to use their real names if they so choose. The internet can be an iffy place where few people are willing to share every detail of their lives. In her video about this whole outcry, Elle discusses the fact that she legally goes by Elle, whether or not it is her real name. Seeing how they live in the south, this is not an uncommon practice; i have several relatives who go by their middle names, not their first names. Does this make them horrible, lying people? No. It makes them people who choose to be called by a different name than their legal first name.
You can't blame Elle and Blair for wanting to maintain their personal safety and set some boundaries on their YouTube channels. There are YouTubers who choose to use their real, full names, and there are those who do not. It's a matter of the personal feeling of safety - and anybody who thinks that these girls who take the time and effort and invest so much into creating these videos purely for other people - should just get a life and stop watching if it bothers them, not create a smear campaign because they don't understand.

I have the legal right to remain anonymous as well. And do any of you that criticize, it is even VERY LEGAL for published authors to use what are called pseudo names? Happens a lot. Many of you, just don't know the real world, business, or the law. GROW UP!

Personally, I think this Elle & Blair are two very savvy business people, who are much smarter then most of you, who are two lazy to do the same at a young age.

Many people advertise their business web sites as well on YouTube, and it does not mean they are dishonest, as everyone with a brain can see their business links.

Many celebs are hired to advertise products too, and while they get paid for it, they also don't always use the products themselves. Learn about the real world kiddies.

No one forces anyone to purchase anything, and even if they like a product, that doesn't mean you will too. If you buy a product you don't like, just return it for a refund. It really is that simple...duh

I had elizabeth in my english class last year and she was the most annoying thing ever. she walks around school thinking shes hot shit! haha thank god shes not there this year!!!!!!!!!!
and its not just me that feels this way a majority of ppl at our school do not like her

Guys, it's not a big deal that they used fake names. A lot of people already do. They probably wouldn't have been on youtube without their fake names. All partners get paid and A LOT of the gurus on youtube promote products, too. Why is it worse that Elle and Blair did it? They're two very sweet, talented girls who deserve none of this drama.

why is everyone so concerned about other people's lives? nobody made you watch their video's or buy the products they use so if you don't like them, don't watch their videos. if you do, then watch them. its as simple as that.
