I just rode by the store beside the pottery shop on Hawthorne and the building is empty. Did he leave our happy little town or did he find a better location in town?

"Lost our lease and so have to move, which is A-OK with us as the alternative is to continue to breathe carbon monoxide and other toxic fumes from the unventilated kilns in the pottery store sharing the building with us. Look for us in the front of the Griffin Gallery at 222 Wilder Street."

We saw you moving all the display cases, etc.. the other morning and were wondering just what the heck was going on....

Are you asking me in particular? No I don't, that's why I was posing the question on where the business has relocated.

If you want to be a smartass, see me in person, otherwise I apologize for misinterpreting your comment.

Populuxe has moved to 222A Wilder Street in Colonial Beach. It is down the street from the Thai restaurant, on the left and is housed in the same building as Griffin Studios. As a roomier establishment, it will now be part performing space with a PA system in place so bands and performers can just show up, plug in and play. The store should reopen for business on Saturday, and then keep 12-5 hours, six days a week save for Wednesday.

As for the name "populuxe," it is a futuristic design style of the late 1950s and early 1960s often using pastel colors, synthetic materials, and stainless steel and evoking a sense of luxury. When interior designers and goods manufacturers adopted the style they utilized the modes of mass production so as to make their goods available to or popular with the public. Hence, the term "populuxe," short for "popular luxury."

I don't know what Populuxe is! Is it a night club, retail business or combination?

Sounds great to me. I have a friend who may be interested in playing there. Thanks also for the information regarding the name.

No, just a little guy with alot of experience. I find that some on these forums like to throw bombs behind a nom de plume and won't take responsibility for their comments. I'm sorry if you were offended (not really!).

I'm jolly, heading to the Nursing Home at 3:00PM today to give those folks some Christmas cheer (no booze! lol). Taking some Sea Cadets with us to experience the real Christmas spirit. Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends (and spread a little bit to those you may not know personally).
