Did anyone happen to go to the VFW last night? They had karaoke by DJ Gary White that started at 6pm. No incidents, just members and their guests having a great time. I left shortly after 9pm. I am anticipating next Wednesday. Hope to see some of the topix crew there.

To my knowledge, only current members and their significant other can play.

We went Wednesday cause we heard it was a blast the first Wednesday. Ill tell you what the bartender was the best! Great to have someone like that, that helps promote and have fun as well. We call now to see who is bartending...if she is we will come in. If anyone else we just don't. When we normally go we feel like a burden...we had heard from word of mouth about the bartender is great and it is true!!! This is EXACTLY what this place needs. Someone who cares about the club and enjoys the work! Look forward to every Wednesday as long as she is there also! My husband loved it! Please don't change what's going on there! Hats off to the bartender and her bosses. Great decision

Yes, the legion Queen of Hearts is way over $8,000 and the place does get packed to capisity
The have the a solute best bartenders in Colonial Beach.

The VFW has made great strides to better itself and so far so good. Most of the bartenders there are volunteer and work for tips, which is why one would expect they would go out of thier way to give good service and most do! My only objection to the V is the choose to mix politics with alcohol by posting two political photographs in the bar room. This not only shows a disrespect for them as well possibly offending some members and guests. If it is so important for the VFW to display the presidents picture then they should put it in the meeting area not in the canteen. You don't see this in the American Legion, Moose or Eagles.
Other wise the Colonial Beach VFW is a fine place and does lot of good for out town and the Vets.

Way to take a good comment about the VFW and direct it to the American Legion. Thank you for all your support. Glad we don't have people like you at the VFW anymore

I'm a Life Member of the VFW and support their causes. The American Legion does so too.

Why do you hate veterans?

Good answer, Geezer!
I support both the American Legion and VFW too.

And each hold their Queenvof Hearts on different days. You and I and any other member can support both.
Don't know what the veteran is complaining about.
I'm proud to be a fellow member of both and to have you as a comrade.

I'm glad to see Christy getting something going at the VFW on Wednesdays. It's been pretty quiet there and I think she's got a good thing going. Every little bit helps.

I'll drop by the VFW every now and again. And Veteran (hiding behind his/her moniker) can kiss this retired veteran's azz.

Well I see that the comments are still pouring in. I guesss this forum is not as bad as some. I am glad people are having a good time at the "V" and they can see that we are moving forward little by little. Over the past few weeks, I have seen some familiar faces and others that have been in hiding. I will see some or all of you guys/ladies at the "V" tonight.

Had a fantastic time at the VFW tonight! It's nice to go in and feel welcomed. Have a good time and relax. And the Best thing for the VFW is the bartender. Helping getting it rolling again. Dances with everyone, controls the bar very well and has a wonderful personality, smiling face and moves fast. I see she is trying to put in every effort to help. Doesn't make you feel like your a problem to need another drink....that's what we need and it is working out well. Thanks for the good times we recently have been having. Just don't let her go!!!!! We will start coming in more. Queen of hearts was a smart thing too. I wish I could pay this bartender by the hour.....she's worth it for this club! See ya'll again soon....and probably more then on just wednesdays now...I will be calling to check to see who's working...if it's Christy (i believe is her name) then we will come!

I agree 100%, the VFW has a wonderful thing going on each Wednesday night. Christy is a very good bartender and a plus for the VFW.
Not just on Wednesday. They offer up frequent dinners and do much to support our Veterans.

What I cannot understand is the "negative" "JUDGE IT" comments to every positive posting i this thread.

To my way of thanking these "judgements" are the work of ONE maybe Two, very bitter and lonely individuals.

Yes, I finally got convinced to go back into the VFW. Went back on Wednesday. I enjoy being a member of ALL the clubs. I haven't been into the VFW in awhile. Word around town is true!!! It was GREAT! No problems, no issues! Walked in a was greeted by everyone. Felt right at home. Everyone was laughing and having a good time. Even the wonderful bartender...handling the crowd and enjoying it. It's true for all clubs. This isn't Kindergardin....let the past go and give it a chance...I did and will be back! The efforts are being put in. First time Ive seen a volunteer bartender put in this much effort and doesn't ask for anything but trying to get members in and loves her bosses. If they read this..her heart and dedication is real! She's the best thing for this club! People will enjoy coming with her personality and great attitude.(not to mention she's cute as a button). GREAT decision VFW. She's got great ideas and whatever else shes doing is working! She also, tells us all about events at the other clubs trying to get members participating everywhere! She doesn't want to take from the other clubs...why cant we have more like that? Great Work! Now Ill go to Queen of Hearts on Friday's at the legion because she was telling us all about it on Wednesday night! Look forward to that as well

Sam, everything you say is very true. Te VFW does have a good thing going on and it can only get better. There are enough member in this town, of the various clubs, to spread it around.

I too, will be on and at the V on Wed. and the Legion of Fridy.

Has anyone else noticed that every positive comment made on this thread about the VFW is labeled by very unfavorable symbols in the JUDGE IT feature of Topix?

No doubt this is the work of one sorry ass, low life bottom feeding idiot, an individual unworthy to be considered a half way intelligent human being.

What is required to become a "life Member," of the VFW?
