Cable lines on house

I am trying to figure out who I should contact about a cable wire going from a 'telephone' pole to my house. The wire is not in use, as we do not have cable, and haven't for some time now. We want to wire removed. Was wondering if we could remove it ourselves and tie it around the pole, or if we should have someone come out and do it. And if so--- who?

Think about that, the future bodes additional cost should you decide later to go cable. Something's are best left alone. Call the cable company and let them explain the finer points to right of way, entrance service and cost to terminate, You will be glad you did

Call the cable company....they will let you know if its their cable and if it is....they should remove it.
