Just making a point that naming a few nice homes does not make up for all the neglect, trash, overgrown lots, open air drug dealing, and poverty in town. Now take that chip off your shoulder and open you eyes to the real problems facing the town!

Funny,

I am not trying to ignore problems but I think there are different venues for addressing problems.

Here is a example.

Atlantic City, NJ is a historic beach town with hotels, casinos, and Lucy the Elephant.

In a thread discussing ways to help the town I would highlight these and other positive measures.

Would it make sense for me to belittle those trying to improve AC to say well you have beach erosion, prostitution, corruption, Lucy the Elephant is falling apart and is an antiquated symbol for the town, a lifeguard turned mayor turned convict, problems with race relations, urban blight, spring break violence and binge drinking, sex on the beach, cutbacks on recreational programs for seniors, gang violence, mafia involvement in the casinos and trash hauling?

I dont think it would?

I dont think anyone born and raised in Our Town would. I dont mind going outside the town to visit but I wouldnt want to live there.

I'll go along with that but do you really think that ripping apart any ideas to try and do something productive is helping the situation? Instead of posting something negative try to get the people motivated by posting something that makes people want to care or get involved.

This is a great idea! It is positive! It could help define our community as a cute town with character.

I see a lot of signs with names on cottages already. Most are "Condemned", "Evicted" or "Auction" though (or some varient of).:-D

OK, now that I got my smartass comments out of the way, the names on cottages are a nice touch. Something I can even get behind.

BUT in saying that, some previous to this post did hit on a subject near and dear to my heart.... Let's not forget the underlying problems here with a lot of the run-down and trashed houses/cottages. Put any sign you wish in front of them and they are still trash. jsut sayin'.....

I don't think an apology is needed, I agree with your thoughts and proud to have someone like yourself in this town, you bring a lot to the table on this forum and to the people of CB
Are you wearing knee-pads? Are you really trying to kiss-ass on an anonymous topix board?! Wow!!!

There are foreclosed, run down houses all over this country, much worse than CB.
This town has no more problems than any other small town. Blame it on the economy and greedy bankers who were allowed to do as they please.
The best we can do is make our own humble abodes clean, nice, and maybe even give it a name. I like this idea.

Here are links to have personalized beach house sign made for you or you can go to Rankins to get small piece of wood to paint your own.

Seniors: I recommend having a shop make it for you.

why do you recommend seniors have a shop make theirs. Aren't they capable of making their own? You really under estimate your audience. How old are you?

Sorry if you feel that I underestimate my peers. I didnt intend to. As someone who has done woodworking as an avocation my entire life and someone who possesses the tools, I know it is not something that everyone can do well. As we get older and frustrated more by our physical limitations, I find it is now easier to have things made or done for me.

Sorry.

What a sorry thing to say, but it really tells a lot about your character, it's people like you who drain the life out of anything good or positive.

And YOU take anonymous postings on a 3rd rate website way to seriously, and have sense of humor. Is everything bubbly and beautiful in your rainbow and unicorn infested happy-land? Get a life ass-clown!

Well now that we have the crooks on their out (yeahhhh) we, as a community, might stand together without all the politicians, with their crooked dealings and high and mighty attitudes, and make our community the beat that WE can!!!
