Great... More low income housing for CB. Will this town never learn?

You ask WHO will pay for this? Well we will of course. Your tax dollars at work.... U have the greatest sympathy in the world for unwed mothers and their issues, don't get me wrong. A lot of us had moters who were unwed when growing up. But they all made it fine with no entitlement-based housing......

Well, I guess the dating pool and bartender quota will both go up now.

Read the article to find the answers to your questions, but I believe it may have been the old Chamber of Commerce Office before it moved to Hawthorne.

I thought Riverwood was the unwed mothas home? Is this competition for us here "in the 'wood"? I'm in Hyattsville, but coming home to CB tonight, and yeah, you know what I got.

Who are these insensitive posters. The charity will fund the operation, will fix up a building that is going to need tearing down if something isn't done soon, and will help folks who need help. No taxpayer dollars involved.

Finally......someone that perhaps actually read the article.

DAH...whomever you are - Thank You.

A visit to the Foundation's website, and/or attendance at either of the two times Mr. James has appeared before Council and laid out his plans and intentions would have rendered virtually all the negative comments preceding this post moot.

Here's other articles that debunk most, if not all opposition voiced here:

To those responsible for the misinformed prior comments:
If you oppose a public/private partnership of this kind, fine. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
Just be honest and say so.
Don't spread rumors and gossip to advance your point of view.
If you'd attended either of the meetings, read any of the previously published information or made any attempt to contact either Mr. James or me, you would have already known all the issues you have raised are without merit.

Agree... not "low income", not a dime of taxpayer money goes towards it. "Insensitive posters" is a kind comment for some of these people. They have all lived perfect lives... or have dark, hidden secrets about getting knocked up when they were young, sneaking off for an abortion, and now living with the guilt. It is a good thing to offer, put on by the Catholic church. The degree of stupidity often showed by some from CB is astounding. They have one of these homes in the 'Burg, and nobody has ever complained. If you vote "Pro Life" and have a problem with this you are an absolute moron.

Not sure about others but seems proposal is one sided. In 1st no date of termination so could be 20plus yeas at investment of 50K (cheap rent) 2nd 10yrs and reimburse up to 50K at $1.00 per year. Seems a more equal agreement that benefits both could be established. Also appears bedrooms would be upstairs with common area down, anybody look at the narrow stairway for pregnant women. No one has asked what the screening entailed. Seems most are trying to catch a moving train. While I fel for the women it's council job to error in favor of the town.

The insensitive posters are the ones that have not read the newspaper article and/or speak before thinking. The building on Irving is in the process of being renovated. It already looks great! This is a terrific way for the town to get buildings repaired/renovated and help others at the same time.
