Me and my partner frequent the Whitetail Resort along with a few friends and neighbors from the beach. We were tossing the idea around of possibly turning the beach down by the point into a nudest beach. Most of the visitors attend the beach by the pier and seldomly venture that far. I have been talking to a board member about this and he seems to think we may be able to go ahead with it. One of the ideas was to block traffic in and around that beach detouring back by the lighthouse. Just tossing around ideas and would entertain any ideas. We would like to get this out in some sort of local forum like topix just to get opinions. There will be no sex on the beach or any alcohol consumption. This will be brought foward in the very near future and would like to know what the locals think.
Barely has a chance.

We are building our support and developing our ideas to present. Taking small steps, but we are very encouraged by the support of the locals, most importantly the supporters at the point. We will be talking to a few of the motels to possibly reserve rooms over the summer for numerous visitors who will be at the beach. This would be great for the buisnesses. The nudity will be strictly to the beach area and changing rooms will be located at the beach. Some of the rooms will be strictly setup for orgies or sexual endeavors which will be totally unnoticed by the residents . This is something we'll be discussing with the motels. We have encouraging feedback from i highly elect member of the council as he is a frequent visitor to several resorts with me and my partner. Please continue with your feedback both positive and negative. Thank You and remember dont be afraid to express gods creations.
Now I know you are trying to stir the pot for a reaction. There aren't enough clueless or nuts signs in the judge it box to describe what you're talking about. And why bother the Hotels with this mess, take em to your place.

Last time I checked the beaches here are family oriented. Take that s*#t somewhere else!! I know I personally take my Grandchildren to the beach and yes we do occasionally go to THAT end as well so no I don't think that a Nudist beach is what we need for our community. That is NOT the kind of revenue we need here at all. And for blocking traffic? Come on are you kidding me? Why would WE the people who live here year round have to suffer with yet another detour because you want to be at one with yourself? This is the dumbest idea I have heard in a while. Buy a Dump truck full of sand and keep that in your own backyard buddy!!!!!!!!!!

The issue of pro- vs. anti-nudist-life-style aside, I notice several red flags throughout this discussion, particularly in this comment. If the "orgies or sexual endeavors" you mention "will be totally unnoticed by residents," why mention them at this early date? Surely you well aware that either or both terms, even in year 2013, could be misconstrued of considered offensive to some? "Go unnoticed by residents?" You have been to Colonial Beach I take it? I believe it would be safe to say that very little goes unnoticed by Colonial Beach residents. There is also the insinuation that any rejection of this well though out plan would be fear-based. Throw in a bit of "God's creations" there at the end and then plant the following seed for good measure: a "highly elected member of the council" is a frequent visitor to resorts with you and your partner?...well, I have to say, I too get the sense that perhaps there is a bit of "stirring the pot" occurring here, whatever that pot may be. That having been said, I cannot think of a location on the Point at which a group of unclad people would not be, let's just face it and say it, a spectacle. It should be my decision if, when, and where I want to see a person buck-naked and I shouldn't have to worry about making that decision each time I decide to take a walk at the beach.

Jim,

I encourage new ideas to stimulate the Town economy but I don't believe that your plan will pass muster.

I am pushing for new amenities for Seniors so if you said a Senior Center with medical staff for out patient care, educational, and recreational activities.

What is the fastest growing demographic group we should try to capture the business of?

Young people? No.
The greatest Generation? No, we are almost all gone.
Baby boomers? Correct.

You say most of your non-clothed cohort are retirees. How about putting your shoulder behind this effort?
