It was not a vote, but an informal decision by TC. Nowhere in the article does it state a vote.
I spoke with Jim Chiarello this evening to ensure I was correct in what I wrote and yes, TC did decide to go ahead with the initial portion of the contract, with Whitestone Partners at the work session.
I will say I happy to see people are reading. If you can't be at the meetings, the newspaper is the best place to get your information.
Tonight there were 27 people, other than council member, Town Manager, Town Attorney, Chief Seay, and Press in attendance. That is much, much higher than the average council meeting.
didnt stay for whole thing, but what was the outcome of the closed meeting??

There was nothing announced at the end, but Val is still employed.(I know that is what was on everyone's mind.) As it was closed, they do not have to tell us what went on.

What was the subject matter of the closed meeting? If it was toward the Town Manager it has to be stated.

Job performance of Town Manager and past police chief, and then stated possible law suit. Town Attorney spoke with Wanda then it was stated job performance of Town Manager. They were in closed session a long time...until after 10 p.m.

So was Val reprimanded for her high-handedness and unprofessional behavior?

The Journal does not tape the meetings any longer. CB staff is working toward taping all meetings, but as Kathy is out recovering right now, it has to wait until she is back on her feet!

True, but since this was new, no one else seems to be trained on it.

The article was correct.
The discussion at the work session was accurately reported.
Once we were in agreement to move forward with the project, a discussion took place.
The discussion was mainly about how to fund the project.
That discussion resulted in guidance to town staff.
The resolution resulting from that guidance was formally approved last night.
That's what happened.

It amazes me how they have a closed meeting on performance and especially Wanda hasn't been at her position long enough to know what entails day to day operations of the Town. That coupled with have they, as a body, laid out their expectations, not individually but as council. Plus from my understanding from a prior council member she hasn't been given a evaluation in over 4 years or since she was appointed Manager. There is that old saying "Trust but verify".

Thank you, Tim! Also, thank you for answering questions on here. While, I am looking forward to the town eventually having its own forum, until then Topix is all we have.

I think this is a step in the right direction. Don't you think it is about tiem to give the TM some goals and expectations, so she will know what is expected, and then can be evaluated FINALLY. It's time that someone started the process, and even a new council member knows what isn't being done and hasn't been done for a long time,

Yes it is high time that all positions are reviewed, but to hire a company with only three years experience and none in how a Town is suppose to operate, and pay them $27,000 to feel their way through. Are they using CB as a training ground to enhance their portfolio??
yea right

As long as I've lived in this dump all I hear about year after year is of empty promises, corruption and wasted and missing funding. We actually need council members who know what they are doing. Colonial Beach's new motto "Get out while you can". Let the weak stay and suffer.

Our leaders in this community are nothing more than a herd of clowns trying to run a circus that nobody wants to attend. Hiring an outside firm, what a joke. Please... all of you clown supporters please chime in and try to tell me how I'm wrong. Please show your true colors and show other what the general mentality is in this dump. I need a good laugh.

Ah! Clarification is needed. As a weak mentally challenged dumpee, I was just thinking, if you have been here for years and have not departed...what does that say about you?

It says that you all have made this town such a desirable place to live that my home value has dropped over 30% and not many want to live here anymore. Any more obviously stupid questions to entertain your ignorance?

Colonial Beach is the sh*t stain on VAs pants. Please refer to the topic of "why cb is awful " for more insight.
