Did anyone see the letter in todays Journal to Editor? Wow, this guy ripped Val the town manager. He must have a serious ax to grind.

He is the one who wants the veggie stand off the Beach. Val will not make it close. Hes mad at her.
Mrs Pearson owns the land that the stand is on.
Do yourself a favor and do not believe anything this man writes. It never should have been published. Babbling of a moron.
He is known for his crazy crappy writing.

Make fun of him if you want but a lot of what he says makes sense. He is not a stupid man, and he has his facts right. He is determined to be heard. I say "Go Get them Mr. Wonders".

In my opinion He is one of the most hateful individuals I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. In case no one remembers he would ride around on his golf cart with poster board signs on the back complaining about everything he
could think of including but not limited to people cutting their grass and allowing the grass trimmings to get in the street. He intentionally drove his golf cart in to the newly planted flowers that the Colonial Beach Beautification group planted along the main beach because he felt it was public property and they had no right. He got kicked out of the 7-11 once for verbally attacking an individual because he didn't like his political views.

I have no patience for a man who bullies a widow in our town or any town. He has an ax to grind over anything and everything in Colonial Beach. I have seen his nasty messages on the back if his golf cart and the ugly signs displayed on his property. Yes...he owns the property and the golf cart but his venom is endless. Our town manager should refuse to meet with him unless she has a witness by her side. Mrs. Pearson should get a peace bond out on him to keep him away from her and her property. The man is miserable and should move someplace which would bring him happiness. Enough said about this.

Eventually, the day will come when people are judged by the content of their character. In the meantime, they will continue to annoy the rest of us. Roy, you really need to get a hobby or a good head doctor.

Makesense, you're the only one that makes sense. The rest of you, try actually reading the letter.

This is what he says in a nutshell. Town of Colonial Beach, Town Manager, Town Council, you have laws. Please enforce them. Treat all citizens the same. Don't let some of them violate the law, while you enforce it against others. By allowing one citizen to park a bunch of rusted, unlicensed, abandoned vehicles on her property, you're choosing to not enforce the town code (which he identifies by article number and title), and you're negatively affecting his and his neighbor's property values. By the way, after reading his letter, I went to look behind the Pierson building. There are 8 or 10 old abandoned truck beds. The two I could see with license plates had tags that expired in 1992 and 2000. In another part of the property there was a badly rusted out old vehicle within clear sight of the street.

He further mentions that there was a petition last year asking town council to look at the town manager position and evaluate whether the person holding the job was the best person for the job. Contrary to what most of you believe, that is in fact what the petition said. It did not demand that she be fired. That petition was presented by Wanda Goforth, who is now on town council. And it was signed by a lot of people. According to Wanda, it would have been signed by many more, but some people did not because they were afraid of retaliation.

Which leads me to his last paragraph. He says he has a first amendment right to free speech without fear of retaliation by town officials or the police department. Absolutely. This town often acts as if the US Constitution doesn't apply to it. Yes, there is retaliation in this town. I know of probably a dozen people who have experienced it. It's outrageous, it's unacceptable, and it needs to be stopped.

I don't know Mr. Wonders, but I admire him for taking a stand. If more of us did that instead of making excuses for the inept, unaccountable local government, this town would be a far better place.

Whether you agree with Mr. Wonders positions or not, there is no doubt about the town's retaliation against citizens of the town. And yes, in my opinion, the current administration is inept and unaccountable. And despite advising Town Council of specific violations of the law, they apparently don't care - and the Town Attorney doesn't appear to, either.

I agree with the two previous post in as much that Roy Wonders has a right to his opinion and the current council and Town Manager are totally inept. Mr. Wonders has a history in this town of trying to take matters in his own hands and has resulted in cursing at citizens, officials, and anyone else that pissed him off. It is my understanding that the police had to be called because when the Colonial Beach Beautification group was installing flowers and improving the walk along the Beach he went there and tried to intimidate them and drove his cart through the area they were working in because he didn't agree with what they were doing. Ask John Drew what happened and what they had to put up with from Mr. Wonders. Ask the employees in Town Hall what they have had to endure from Mr. Wonders. There is a difference between being a vigilante and being a concerned citizen. He has a right to his opinion and to write all the letters he wants, that is where it should end.

Constitutionally protected free speech is not limited to speech that you or I like. It covers ALL speech. Spoken words, written words, signs on golf carts, angry words, cursing words, heated public disagreements with government employees, picketing in front of public buildings, protest marches, sit down strikes, etc... The only exceptions to the first amendment are where the speech crosses the line into threats of imminent physical violence or defamation. There are legal remedies for those things. A judge decides that, not a town manager, not by any of you, and not be a cop called to the scene by a beautification group. Did he violate a town ordinance by driving through an area where flowers were being planted? Did he trespass on private property? If so, cite him for that. Otherwise shut up and move on.

I for one don't need to "Shut Up" - if you don't see anything wrong with man who can't control his temper and purposely plows his golf cart through a newly planted area in town, which was completed by VOLUNTEERS, you simply don't understand the basics like respect. He certainly has the right to speak his mind, it is another to intimidate, bully and destroy town property. He's just lucky the beautifcation group didn't whack him with a sack of mulch. Simply treat others the way you'd like to be treated; doesn't seem all that difficult

Disturbing the peace and vandalism come to mind from the descriptions rendered. Unless they planted the flowers ON THE ROADWAY or AUTHORIZED PARKING AREAS there is a Vehicle violation involved. (Funky GC rules may nullify) Assault and harassment might also be cause of action. Contact your nearest SITG (Snake In The Grass) for the legal ramifications :) (That auto spell correct is starting to grow on me, except when I WANT to leave something for the boat people)

I don't know Mr. Wonders but one thing he said in the letter he submitted to the Journal was ABSOLUTELY TRUE, Val Foulds makes over 100,000 a year and whether all of us want to believe it or not, she is NOT qualified. We have about 3500 residents in this Town I don't think we should be paying any Town Manager 100,000 to manage this small town, especially one that isn't qualified. What a joke!!!!!
