It amazes me that all of these post are about church and god but the people of martinsville are anything but christian. I'm a young mom with tattoos and a lip ring and a boyfriend who has stuck with us always but whenever we go out in public i get stares like I'm the devil himself. I went out to eat at Golden corral in Danville and this older woman literally acted like she was too disguisted to eat her food in my presense. I'm from a small country town and people are a lot less rude & obvious about their little snickers and comments. I've always been taught to treat people with respect but obviously you don't have the same respect for others. How about this Sunday you go to church & talk about acceptance because not everybody looks the same but that doesn't mean we're bad people or devil worshipers. God is the only person that's suppose to judge others, keep that in mind next time you go out.

Don't worry about those self-righteous, egotistical, elitist idiots. They will get their come-uppance one day. And it's not the bed of roses think it's gonna be.

I agree with poster Advocatus Diaboli. We tend to look at the outside and make a call for whats inside and most time I bet we are wrong. Dont be disappointed just ignore those who think they are better.

Are you serious? I would never attend a church here where everyone looks at you like garbage! Church is SUPPOSE to be a place for acceptance but it's just a place for you to judge outsiders for the way they look. Yes, I may have tattoos but I dont do drugs, I'm a good mother, high school graduate, own my home & pay my bills at 20 years old and i'm sick if getting looked at as a white trash welfare case. I've accomplished more than what most 20 year olds have at this age. I find it ridiculous that woman cling onto their pocket books when they see me walk by like I'm some sort of thief. So no, I'd drop dead before I'd go to one of your churches to be judged by everyone even more so than i already am when i know I'm a good person. Its those people that are ruining our country, not us who look differently.

I would have no problem with your tats and looks. You are right we do tend to look at the outside and make a call of what is on the inside. I have many friends with tats and things and they are good people and friends.

I was going to say to find a group that is not judgemental of your appearance. Now you may also have to help with the other generations in this as they will have a preconceived notion because of their upbringing. You may have to step forward and help those whom your describing. To say that everyone in churches is the problem places you in the same boat as saying they judge you by your looks. Should that be the case.... NO but it is reality. By the Way Church is the place where all barriers can be broken down if it is desired by those attending and yourself. I think you will find most groups as giving and caring if you give the chance.

No offense but you did get those tattoos for people to look at right? Don't be surprised when people stare.

Where did you read that the church was supose to be about acceptance? True anyone can obey the gospel and be a Christian, and people with tatoos and piercings can become Christians as well. But a person must be willing to change and repent. Tatoos are of course something that can't be changed.

I never met Johnny in person but I'm 100 percent confident that if you went and attended with the brethren there you would be welcomed and treated as an honored guest. FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS anywhere would do the same.
