Hey "manny"

Think about what you are asking. Why would you keep re-opening a club that people are getting shot at? It DEFINATELY DOES NOT KEEP THE 18 to 20 YEAR OLDS OUT OF TROUBLE. INSTEAD, THEY ARE SHOOTING EACH OTHER!

soldier,

I'm sorry, but I just don't see how a real police officer can stop a shooting at a club. If someone is out to get someone else, they will always find a way. Actually, I don't think it is always the club as much as the people who run it or the area it is in.....Every club has its "trash", but some clubs are just plain "trouble" (p.s. I love soldiers as much as policeman......)

Mrs. Anonymous you just contradicted yourself. You don't think it is always the club as much as the people. And if they want to kill someone the will find a way. They just want it closed because it a hip hop club. I bet if they start having shootings at Blackmon's plaza down the street then they want close it. No one can stop ignorant ass people and if they want you dead bad enough and don't care who the hit trying to get to you then they will. No one can predict what is going to happen and who is going to get shot unless you are the person doing it. Big Tyme Security has done alot to keep that club violence free and most of that stuff has happened outside. If it happened inside then i see a problem, but this is outside the club where people have access to the weapons they man have left in the car. I SAY OPEN IT BACK UP.

I see your point, but all I am saying is that some areas are just trouble. If they can run a club with the proper "security" there, then I say Open it back up too..........Otherwise, its just going to be the same thing over and over again.

If they raise the age requirements to 30 and older there may be a decrease in the shootings down there. Also the city needs to close that little teen club across the street from the Onyx. That could be some of the problem.

I AGREE WITH YOU DEVOTED TAXPAYER, NOW THE CLUB ACROSSS THE STREET, THE TRAP HOUSE IS JUST POINT LESS. YOU HAVE TEENAGERS OUT ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT AND THE PARENTS ARE NOT PREVENTING THEM OR SETTING BOUNDARIES FOR THEM. MAY IF THE CLUB WAS FOR 25 AND OLDER THEN THERE MAYBE A DECREASE, BUT I GUESS WE WILL JUST HAVE TO SEE HOW IT PLAYS OUT WITH THE NEW POLICE CHIEF AND MAYOR, BECAUSE THEY SEEM LIKE THEY MEAN BUSINESS.

To me you can't blam the club on what happens outside of the club only thing club onyx should be worrying about is what happens inside the club but to me security do a great job in the club and raising the club to 30 yrs old is just crazy ass hell if you 30yrs old and still gon to club then u need to get a life and a wife and kids dam leave the age where it is and just open it back up ya dig and do anybody know when its gon to open up again if u do let me know asap cause ima be there lol

The real police are no better than the rent-a-cops that are "patrolling" the club. One of the problems is that that and many other clubs in this city close at six in the morning. Close the clubs sooner, a lot of the problems will be solved. Where are the metal detectors? Anyone can get a weapon inside the club if they are not properly searched.

I have worked many nightclubs as a police officer and just the mere prescence of a police officer is enough to deter some of the senseless violence. Now, I agree that if someone really wants to get someone they will get them but usually they do not do it in front of the police which as the discussion is talking about protecting the nightclubs. Now, in most cities police officers are not allowed to work strip clubs because of corruption such as the city that I work in. But police prescence does make a difference and rent-a-cops, although try to do their job are not held to the same standard or respect because they cannot take away your freedom.

Okay, "Man" good point. Glad you cleared some of that up for me. I forgot the difference between rent-a-cops, and real policemen. You are right, that will deter some people, but not all. But as I said earlier, if someone is out to get someone else, they WILL find a way......that puts you in more danger as well, and I hate to think about you in that situation. I have friends that are policemen (mostly county deputies, but one cheif in the city as well), and it scares me to think they could be here today, gone tommorrow. In fact, my son is so infatuated with police shows, etc. he wants to become a cop.

Does these clubs have well trained security who even know what too look for on a state ID or drivers license too tell the age because on both here in Illinois you can easily tell a persons age by the 2 middle numbers on a state ID and drivers license and is there curfew laws in East saint because my daughter came to me asking if she can go to club rio and she is only 17 saying her friends go there all the time and are never ID'ed . and I told her Hell no because the only thing them young ladies doing is adding more names to the St Clair county child sex offender list

Club Oynx is one of the most fun filled clubs in St. Louis. I been atleast 130 times and I never been put in the line of danger. The security their has handle every situation professionally. Everytime there was an altercation, they resovle it fast and in a proper manner. I live on the Missouri side of St. Louis and the clubs there have never been closed because of any shootings. I remember a person got killed outside of the Spotlight and it was open the next day. A person got killed at the club behind Union Station and its still open to this day. I remember being in high school and watching a girl get stabbed up at the Lime Light. In all my times going to Onyx I never seen anything like that. What they do on this side of the river when something bad happens is change the name of the club. They don't close down. I also think they should stop closing the club down because it gives people nothing to do on the weekend, and we know when people have nothin to do is when most of the problems happen.
