yeah...my mom was a kid here then. Pretty brutal from what I've heard! Had a suspect, but he never did go to trial. curiosity wrote: was on another website and a woman was talking about two girls were murdered in humansville in 1976? cynthia bell and hazel hanna?

From what I remember the two girls were hitchhiking down that main interstate there outside of Humansville. I heard it was a trucker who picked them up but I never heard anything else. I too used to hitchike from my place in Humansville over to Bolivar. This was one of the reasons I stopped. It was very scary & very sad. I didn't know either of them and don't remember if they were Humansville residents or not.

The information that a trucker picked up the girls that were murdered in Humansville, Mo in 1976 is incorrect. I am the sister of Hazel Hanna, it is my opinion that the cowards who were involved are still in the Humansville area. To date no one has been arrested and brought to justice.

I am the cousin of Cynthia Bell. She was 16 years old. And the story that the girls got picked up by a truck is incorrect. Our family believes or I at least do believe the cowards still live in the humansville area. And oneday I hope the Hanna's and my family gets 2 see justice for the girls murder.

I use to live in Humansville and the police chief who tried to investigate the case believes "the cowards live in Humansville" but one of them (possible suspect) is currently dead and most likely living in Hell. Most of the evidence was "losted" when he became chief but from people he spoke to, certain names of men kept coming up who were teenagers/young men at the time of the murder. No hard evidence though. It's a case only God can judge and give them their just punishment.

I cannot believe all this! Its just crazy... I mean I understand there are some shady people in Humansville but to go this far is unreal and how is this still unsolved. It sounds like this case needs to be re-opened. Especially if the guilty people are still living amongst us. Im wondering why I havent heard anything about this before granted Ive only lived here the last 10 years but with this being unsolved our community should not just forget about it and tuck it away in a box somewhere. My email is amberlynne2007@gmail.com feel free to email me. I'm very interested in this and cannot imagine something like this happening to one of my family members I would definitely want justice. I'm very sorry for the pain you guys have had to endure. They should not be able to get away with something so horrible! You deserve justice!

I am 46 years old and when I was in 3rd grade our family moved to Humansville, my father had bought a place down the ways from Hazel's home. We are from California and knew nothing of horses, cows, and chickens. One day we met this teenage girl (Hazel) she taught my younger sister, brother and me how to ride a horse. She was the sweetest person to us and made sure to talk and listen to us. We all were very young and she took time out of her day to teach us what she really loved to do. If I can remember she had 1/4 horse and rode it every where. We moved back to California a year and half later, a few years had went by and we went back to visit. We still had family in Springfield and made the drive to see our old farm house and to go visit this lovely girl we all remembered. We found out by a neighbor before we got to her house. My whole family was just sickened by what we had learned. She will always have a piece of our hearts. I'm just sad the rest of the world didn't get to know this sweet heart of a girl. Just goes to show you bad things happen in small towns and not just in big cities like L.A. Ca. I hope and pray they catch this sad SOB, because it has ruined so many life's and memories of all of us. God bless her family. I now have kids 1 girl (21) and 1 boy (17) and couldn't even dream how bad it effected her parents and family.

Mark, Hazel was dear to my heart too. Sheand my aunt were the same age and rode horses together. I was 5 when she died and my memories of her were of her playing with us on the front porch and telling my older brother he was her little boyfriend. What a beautiful soul. She is missed and not forgotten and YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE we are not going to stop until you are judged by man or God. You murdered two CHILDREN

I have lived in Humansville since 1984 & had not heard of this terrible incident until this past weekend @ the Fall Festival when Bob told me about it!! How is it that I know/have heard all about Lou's daughter & her murder, the lady that was riding her horse out @ the City park, fell, broke her neck & died, Jeff Sprowls terrible accident, & the Painter boy's horrible accident but these 2 girls & their stories have been lost!? I think our current police chief needs to look into this/re-open this case. I, too, am curious as to who the 2 suspects are. Crazy that I have lived near these 2 men most my life & they very well could have killed 2 teenagers!!! TERRIBLE!! I pray that the Hannas & Bells find peace & these girls get the justice they deserve!! How were they killed? Unfortunately the police probably did not properly collect DNA so we could find out who did this.

I was a young woman living in Bolivar, Mo at the time this happened. I worked with Mrs. Hanna at the Garment Factory. Lovely lady. I didn't know her daughter but I do know that she was a hard working woman and broken hearted. How she went on, I can't even imagine. Didn't hear of any arrests, investigation, nothing. I always wondered if it was a small town political coverup. Alot of that went on in Bolivar. That is 1 reason I left. I think of those families alot. Maybe you should have 48 hrs or some TV show do and investigation? Bring it Nationwide... Criminals always like to brag on their dirty deeds.
