The governor is doing what should have been done years ago. NJ has to get out of debt. This won't happen if everyone has their hand out. That's the problem. Everyone wants the governor to fix the state's problems but no one wants to give up anything. Is it any wander that people and businesses are leaving this state.
AS for the teachers - I am tired of the whining and complaining. They should be paying half of their health insurance bills and eliminate all the excess superintendants. There should be one administrator per county so that all the children in that county are using the same educational programs and books. That would save money. Every little town in this state that has an elementary school also has a superintendant. People think this state is a cash cow. There are excess people working for the state of New Jersey and too much nepotism.
If Christie keeps his word and continues to cut excess, at the end of his term we may just be solvent. That would be a nice change.

People are leaving the state and will continue to leave but at an even faster rate if the governor continues with his budget plans. So far school aid has been reduced, programs to help disadvantaged children have been cut in half, and property taxes have been raised. The poor get less, the middle class gets poorer and the wealthy stay wealthy.

Are you sure the Gov. Christie is "stirring the pot", while he goes after these people that wasting our tax paying money? I thought Corzine was bad even though he was corrupted. Christie is a menace being led out of a can attacking people who may or may not have caused the current state budget crisis. Christie is a lunatic and Corzine was a joke, despite the fact that he was a corrupt governor.

What we have here is a very dangerous situation. We allowed a group of dangerous politicians, along with Gov. Christie to take over our state without even knowing their motives. Gov. Christie might be cut expenditures outs of the budget and eliminating debt to generate a surplus, but he will harm NJ's economy while he's doing it. Beware before you post your next comment on Topix!!!!!! Think before writing!!!!

UNKNOWN = sorry but Christie is on the right track.
The NJEA has grown too powerful and needs to be cut down to size
and Christie is the man to do it. If you want to complain then complain about the NJEA, teachers salaries, tenor, the people
who are on the board of education = if you want to see corruption just look at the Secaucus Public School system and I am glad I don't live there.

So how do you people of New Jersey feel about the idea of Army Base Fort Monroe becoming a national historic park!?
