man what a F*cked up town this is ,i have been living here 11 years appox give or take a month or two . thomas, chambers, and hendricks are a waste of air . i wish the city was back to the good old days. hell my friends are moving away from here as well as i am, i just got a contract on my house and i am glad to get out of this speed trap , and by the way i have never received a speeding ticket period as i am a retired trooper , i never have understood why young cops feel the need to write tickets . i was at a place in collierville tn, eating, two young cops came in from piperton police department set down very loud in mannor bragging about writting 27 tickets during his shift , the other officer was a look alike of the movie slingblade guy man. he had some stripes of rank.as i was setting ears open mouth closed one young officer told sling blade he would be glad to move out of his mothers and stepfathers house, as i thought to myself man he is telling everthing he even went as far as to tell his friend that living with his mother he had a hard time getting P*ssy i thought to myself if i was a crook i would know his all about him . my friend stated to me man young cops are stupid , i stated yep i think the chief of piperton is not aware that his officers are like that . as i was paying for my dinner i stood up and told the young loud mouth officer pretty boy man you need to try and learn to keep your voice down, his reply was i guess you will be calling my police departmenton on me , i replied no young man i am a retired trooper and i had to learn the hard as you will one day , i left felt bad for the city that i call home piperton . sorry for any mispelled words as i am getting old and having trouble seeing , yes i am a proud 79 years old

Pathetic little community, was passing through this little town coming out of Memphis dropping down on Highway 72 when I was pulled over for supposedly doing 66mph in 55mph zone at 1AM in the morning.I had been driving all day and just wanted to get back to Huntsville without having to stay overnight.I presented about as much of a problem speeding to the general population as Chuck Wepner did to Muhammed Ali.I pretty much was the only vehicle on the road and still don't know where this Piperton city actually is.The officer would have to be completely devoid of moral or ethical integrity.Jobs would have to be in short supply to take this job,but I doubt this would qualify as a Walmart greeter.Stay away,"NOTHING BUT SMALL TOWN SPEED TRAP"

This is pathetic!! This apparently has been going on for qui te a while. I hope everybody catches on and the town's revenue drops off drastically due to 'being in the know' and that the town goes broke cause everybody wants to move the hell out!! I haven't gotten any ticket either but I come through that little mile stretch almost every night and I never fail to see the damn blue lights. It's pitiful when people have to drive with their eyes OFF the road and ON the speedometer. That in itself is unsafe!

Noticed the 2012-2013 budget has Property Tax $325,000 and Traffic violations $800,000. Recommend a independent fiscal audit for the newly elected officials. Will save more money than dealing with garbage in the longrun. Keep your eye on those general admin expenditures come Dec. 2013.

I absolutely hate this POS so called city. I am a fellow public servant on the way to work this morning and got pulled over for doing 57 in a 45! I've had 2 tickets in my life and both have been in piperton! So much for professional courtesy. I was seriously looking at buying a house there also.

My wife and I left the hospital from a sleep test around 4 am. Headed home.went under new road.noticed ahead no lights.it took of OK with lights on. We both turned left headed to 64.the stop signcar was OK for a while then would slow to 20 then sped back up.the road was curvy and when I had. A chance to pass a car would be coming.when I had the chance I accelerated and passed then slowed to 45.at first stop sign the Guy was behind me.then blue lights came around him while both of us was stopped at sign.he said I was speeding when passing.gave me a ticket.I told the was driving irratic that's why passed his reply the other was not speeding.he was driving between 20 and 40.I told him something was wrong with other car he paid no attention.I was told it would be a waste of time to go to their court.

Court cost 100.if you are found innocent .you still pay the cost. Maybe since innocent the the ticket giver should pay the court cost. Just a thought

I was given a ticket in Piperton on Hwy 385 this week because the police officer said I was going 77 in a 65. I was in the right lane, going 62 mph as I looked at my speedometer the moment I saw the officer. I wasn't worried, I do not speed - natural instinct to check the speedometer given the horrible reputation of Piperton Police. Why would I be speeding, I see police every day on 385. He followed me a short distance down 385 then hit his lights as I exited at Poplar and if he had looked at his own speedometer he could see I was not speeding. My brakes were not touched - he was behind me he could see that. I didn't need to slow down, going 62 in a 65 is not speeding! He gave me the ticket instead of the person in the left lane passing me (flying past me) that was going 77 miles per hour. He said he clocked two cars, one at 77 and one at 64 - obviously the person (me) going 64 was in the right lane and the person speeding and passing me was in the left lane. Logically if I was driving 77 (and I'm not stupid to do that) would not be in the right lane with someone going 64 trying to pass on the left. Appears this police officer needs to be trained in visual observation of how fast those go in the left lane and train him in correct judgement of reviewing his radar device - logically a person going 62-64 is in the right lane when he can see the person speeding past me in the left lane - obviously going 77mph. I have no issues with giving tickets to the who can't follow the speed limit and fly down 385. I drive slower as I have no desire to get a ticket and there are many animals in this area. Appears in Piperton to generate revenue they lie and say you were speeding to keep that revenue coming in, including ticketing the person driving slow rather than the jerk that was passing me going 77 mph. Maybe they need to spend some of the revenue in training the police officers to ticket the correct person that is speeding not those of us who follow the law. I'm not sure they can train officers to have "common sense" but would be a worthwhile investment if they could.

Got a ticket 5am this morning. According to this officer I was going 76 in a 65 on the new 385 that I travel every morning to work. I'm aware that there's always a piperton cop sitting there to and from work everyday. I have my car set on cruise control at 70 and today he decides to pull me over and gives me a ticket saying that i was going 76. Makes no sense. Waste of $176.

Hold on here! I have been stopped twice in Piperton and both times the Officer did not ticket me. Most of u admit u were speeding when u got the ticket. I have found the Piperton Police to be both professional and courteous. I have an elderly neighbor across the street and I have seen patrol cars at her house almost weekly. They definitely check her home when she is gone, even to the extent of walking around her house. If u know Piperton Police give out tickets for speeding and other traffic violations.....I would suggest you drive carefully at the proper speed. Police work seems to be an underpaid, under appreciated job at best. I personally set my cruise control on 45 which is the speed allowed in Piperton proper. I am happy to see the police out and about. It makes me feel safe! I have been a Piperton resident for 12 years and I love Piperton.

Coming back from Oxford for UT- Ole Miss game decided to try a different route home which included 385. Got hit for $180 ticket for going 11 mph over. Even troopers usually let 11 over pass (wide open road without a car around me). The ticket reeked of speed trap, and sure-enough a quick google search yields tons of hits for "Piperton Speed trap." The fact that traffic violations revenue is more than double property tax income is telling. Will avoid that route at all costs in the future. Those who have to drive routes in and around Piperton should consider doing what some citizens around a well-known speed trap in north FL did. They bought rights to and put up a permanent billboard saying "Lawtey: Speed trap ahead, slow down!" Anecdotally it has worked, although to make up for lost revenue, the "officers" there will ticket for 47 in a 45. Glad I live in Nashville!
