I am thinking of moving to Collierville. I've been told it is a small, wealthy city. Any advice or suggestions for someone moving?

I lived in Collierville for 10 years. There are a good many of wealthy people in this Memphis-Shelby County suburb of approx 45,000 people, but there are also many middle-class and upper-middle class people. It is difficult to find a home below $200,000 and there are many homes in the $200-$300k range. Many Memphians flocked to Collierville in the early 90's to buy new homes and due to the school system which is mostly a white makeup. Test scores are also very high--Collierville high is one of the Top 100 schools in the nation. There are many conveniences in Collierville--from big box stores to the historic town square shops. However, due tot he fast growth in the 1990s and 2000's, the roads lack infrastructure. It can be frustrating to get around. The main drag is Poplar Avenue which is goes all the way to downtown Memphis. However, you can also hit 385 to the interstate very quickly. I once worked downtown and commuted to Collierville and I would say it was too much for me. If you work in East Memphis it is much better. If you want to do anything in Memphis on a regular basis it takes a little longer to get in and out of Collierville but it isn't too bad. Most people move there because of the schools. It isn't very diverse--there are a lot of snooty white people there and dumb-ass white people that live there as well. I'm white--i lived there and I know.
