This is a case where the parents are relying on their children to parent.
Why should there be a budding system? Should not the parents make sure all their children area accounted for and not put that responsibility/burden on the children? The last time I looked there is NOT a fine line between the childs and the adults responsibility where an adult's responsibility becomes the child's.

You can have as many children as you want. We live in a free society. BUT, that doesn't mean you then don't take care of them in every way!

At the very least, these parents should be monitored for a period of time by the Child Protective Services to see what type of abuse is happening in that home. Abuse is not only physical!

The boy was obviously not abandoned. However, 14 kids???? I wonder if this family has ever heard of birth control? Or maybe just watch TV at night???? Maybe they would be able to see if they have forgotten a child at a rest stop if they had not so many. Anyhoo, all's well what ends well.

I am very glad the little boy was reunited with his family.NOW have any of you ever seen the TV show on Bravo called JON & KATE PLUS EIGHT this family has two girls and then she had sixtuplits. 6 bioys. Anyway they dricve a vehicle some what bigger than a van so that the 10 of them can fit in seat belts because the said even the largest comuter van wouldnt fit all of them. They didnt want this vehicle but had no choice. Howvever it is standard for them when the leave home to count everyone and everytime the exit the van they do another count. Also they each have there own seat, My point is that when you have a family that large you better set guide lines. This could have had a very tragic ending. Parents if you decide to have a family that large you need to be responsible!! I cant even imagine what went thru that little boys mind when they all drove off. Glad for the happy ending. I think these parents need to find something better to do than make more babys, I think they are over the top!!

Here's an idea..when you start pushing out so many kids, that you can't keep track of them...try some birth control or some other method! Seriously, come on....

14 kids, it was an accident. Give the family a break. Just being able to function with 14 kids in the car would be a feat unto itself. I'm glad the family is reunited. How scary!

The parents should be charged with having more kids than they can keep track of. Obviously, they should have stopped at 13. Poor little boy. Anything could have happened to him at a truck stop.

Ok, there is a part of me that could MAYBE understand the parents not noticing the 14th child was not in the van. However, wouldn't any of the other 13 children notice? Not one of them noticed his seat he was probably sharing with child #10, was half empty. What about child # 10? Why wasn't this child noticed missing by the small commune inside that van? But I will agree, do not judge (well we shouldn't anyway) until the whole story is out. 14 is quite enough tho.
Child #10 was too busy thanking god for some elbow-room finally to announce that his brother was missing. All those kids are probably miserable.

The parents are getting mostly supportive comments, but as a school teacher I wouldn't hear the end of it if I forgot a child on a field trip. What a double standard.
