Just in reading this story, it hit so close to home. Back at the end of November, I was given my RX for my Roxicodone. Had it filled, to only find out 2 days later, it was the brand that I am allergic to the dye it contains. I called my pharmacist, and she knew that I had a problem with it before. Since I had another "post dated" script for the next month, she had me bring that RX in, and had insurance "over ride" the other prescription and fill it with a different liquid Brand. Now, the problem! NO ONE WANTED TO TAKE THE ALLERGIC BRAND OFF MY HANDS. Not the pharmacy, not the original doctor, not my new doctor, NO ONE! Since it's liquid, it can't be flushed or down the drain, nor thrown in the trash. I hadn't a clue what to do with it!
Finally, I ended up pouring all 15 bottles in a pan with water (in the laundry room on a hot plate with the window open) and let it boil until it evaporated. That IS the only way I could rid myself of it.
So in this article it says that people have trouble getting rid of unused meds. and it's true! I wouldn't have believed it if it hadn't happened to me.
There needs to be a disposal set up, like they do with household cleansers and paint products, where individuals can take these meds. and dispose of them with no chance of them falling into the kids' hands. And that is what this article is about, the kids obtaining meds. from their parents and grandparents' homes.
Just my thoughts on the subject..
Take care everyone,
Kitty

Does it go into the drinking water or something.?
Anyways I cant believe its 2010!!!
Life is moving at warp speed and i want it to slow down.
How have you been feeling, and hows the hubby?

I made a Red Velvet cake last night, and for some reason i thought of you! Also I made Chicken breasts, but I have a secret seasoning. My kids went to bed in a food coma..lol
Anyways I will post later, and i hope you are staying warm. It is FREEZING here.

A fool and her money is soon parted. I'm allergic to OC's with small numbers on them. Don't seem to run into the "NO ONE will take them problem."

I suppose if I had "offered" them to "someone" they would have gladly taken them, but I don't handle my meds that way. It clearly states on the bottles, not to be taken exept by the person prescribed, so that is what I do.

I did see where someone wrote about taking them to the police dept. and I hadn't thought of that before, so if it happens again, I will give my cousin a call...
Mystic, I was allergic to the "dye" used in the Roxycodone, that particular brand uses it, and it was actually recorded in my history, so there was no problem getting a new RX done. And yes, generics vary in difference with the compound agents they use, so anyone can have a reaction. So that could well be the problem with your stomach being upset. Hope you aren't taking that one anymore?
Good to see you here, along with all else,
Much love, and pain free wishes to all,
Kitty

Rae, you made the REd Velvet Cake!!!??? It was my favorite!!!! DAg gone it! Can't have it anymore, but I can pretend!!!!(wonder if they make red velvet jello?)
Oh, and no, you can't dump the liquid in the drain, according to the accompanying literature, perhaps because of the septic? I am not sure why...
Good to see you also. And of course you would think of me when making that cake, I LOVE CAKE!

Thanks Miss Kitty, for the mention. Weeeel, im still taking them, but Ive got a call in to the Doctor. Its a new PM, and Ive only been taking the med a week. WHICH IS A REALLLY LONG TIME, when it make ya feel "carsick" and gawd awful tired.
My bad experiences with screwing up my PM's in the past, by calling on a med early, and complaining, or going in early for a Med adjustment, has got me petrified of screwing up, and its what in the recent past(4/09-7/09)got me labeled as(
'Im not sure what #13 or anything?), and thats why I Forced myself to tough it out a week. It provides some pain relief, more than Hydros, just sucks to be sick w/it, the pain relief.
The strange thing is that not EVERY pill from the bottle has the same intensity of bad effect. Sometimes it not quite as bad as oters, and sometimes its the worst.Theyre "qualitest", is that the manufacturer, which you said you had a bad experience with. I know we fibromites have sensitivities to everything, AND the sun sometimes, but this conclusion(binding agent and fillers negative effect)didnt come easily to me, because I wasnt aware that the "volume" would be high enough to be significant, but ITS VERY EVIDENT, now that Im coming from a "cleansed state", that my individual reaction is VERY SIGNIFICANT. Yuck! Thanks again for your interest and your post! Its not at all strange to me that you can "feel" something thats impossible to feel. Ive had it happen!
Got to the point where it didnt matter if anybody believed me or not! HA! Hope this finds you doing okay, or next best.Best as can be! mystic

Mystic, I will take CHEESECAKE ANYDAY!!! AT least the top of it!!
My meds were the Roxy, not in pill form. BUT if yours were the generic, not the brand name, you know they have the 20% lean of more or less of the "acting pain agent" so the bottle SHOULD contain the same amounts as they are SUPPOSED to be produced in the same batch. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that has really happened. And I have seen pharmacists actually take some from one bottle to make another prescription full! And use two different brands! They aren't suppose to, but have seen it, had it done to me once, BUT the pharmacist asked me if it was okay, I said yes, not knowing any difference at the time. Now, I would say NO. But the liquid is in a sealed bottle of 30ccs. So it should be all the same. But like I said, I had a problem with the dye in one particular type.
I don't think you are a file 13 at all. I think you are def. a file 14, like me :)
Nighty night, Prince Valium has arrived,

I have ordered prescription drugs (without a prescription) from ZTOPIX. COM about two years ago, and was pleased with the speed and quality of service.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing with my medication. The meds is expensive, but there is a generic version available overseas.
I love the idea of taking responsibility for my own health (or lack of health) and skipping the bureaucracy... to say nothing of having to drive to the doctor, wait in line, yet again, to get a prescription refilled.
