A 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shoplifting incident at a Friendship Heights department store late last month.
Jonathan Bradley, of an unconfirmed address, was arrested by Washington, D.C. police during a traffic stop on Aug. 13, according to a statement from Montgomery County Police. An arrest warrant had been issued for Bradley by Montgomery County Police on Aug. 10, charging him with theft over $500, malicious destruction of property over $500, second-degree assault and intent to injure by mace or a chemical device following the incident at the Saks Fifth Avenue store in the 5500 block of Wisconsin Avenue.

According to police, a person dressed as a female but who may have been a man entered the store on Wisconsin Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on July 30 and then was observed taking a $2,000 Chanel dress from a store rack and placing it in a large bag. When stopped by a security officer at the door, the suspect sprayed the officer with pepper spray and then ran southbound in the direction of the Friendship Heights Metro station.

In a 2007 photo provided by police, Bradley appears to be dressed as a woman, and he was dressed as a woman when he was arrested Aug. 13. Montgomery County police detective David Hill said before the arrest that despite wearing women's clothing, the suspect's manner of walking as viewed on a surveillance video led him to believe that the suspect could be a man.

He also said that the suspect ripped the security tag off the dress, an easier feat for a man than a woman.
