Small Plane Crash In DeSoto County

News Channel 3's Mississippi reporter, Dennis Turner, says there has been a small plane crash in DeSoto County.

Green Village is a nice subdivision with it's own private grass airstrip. Most of the people who live there are pilots with Fedex and Northwest/Delta or the commuter airlines. Many are just private pilots that love to fly. That being said, the grass strip can get rather rough with ruts and potholes after a series of rains like we've had. Prayers and best wishes to those involved.

Spoke to someone who knows this pilot and everything points to his quick recovery which is great news. Kudos to the firefighters and paramedics whose skills made this possible. Wish the video had shown more of the rescue than a history lesson of crashes.

Roger is a very experienced pilot and has flown for many years. He is a good friend of the family. I spoke with someone who knows him well, and he has a broken ankle and fractured spine, but luckily is not paralyzed. He is expected to fully recover from his injuries.
