The millage has nothing to do with teacher and staff pay. It involves the Headly amendment and how the state funds the schools. You must pay your taxes to the state for the school to recieve the money back. Keep in mind they do not cut your taxes but they do cut the money to the schools. Also if you look further into it, Michigan is is 4th highest in the US for teacher pay and Coldwater falls about 5th in Michigan of all MI districts. Your teachers do not pay anything towards their benefits. Mostly unheard of in any industry. Would it not be great to have a job that is very unlikely that you could be fired from, be one of the highest paid, full benefits at no cost, work 9 months out of the year and snub your nose at your employer without fear of reprimand or dismissal. Coldwater Schools is it.

They have formed a new "Parents Advisory Council" so parent can make suggestions for changes in the system. All are welcome. Ask your child's school how you can attend. They need a lot of advise too. This can't hurt so DO SOMETHING instead of complaining on this thread.
