If she doesn't run, she should at least get her speech published in the newspaper.

This is important - her advocacy of former administrators (not MH of course) and defense of teachers show her intimate knowledge of what has been going on in Coldwater schools, especially the mess in the high school. I want the Daily Reporter to publish her speech to the school board, and publish it soon.

If Mary Ann reads this, I hope she would publish here in Topix her comments to the board. What the administration has done needs to be made known.

I think Mary Ann should run for school board, and I think we should picket the newspaper to publish her comments in the Daily Reporter. She knows what has been going on at the high school! She is not afraid to confront the administration and the board!

When will she announce that she is running? She would win on a write-in candidacy.

I don't care about the silly poll -- I do care that Mary Ann be out there in front and to challenge the administration. She definitely is not of the same mind as the current board members.

Isn't it enough that she runs the prosecutor's office? Now she has to run the school district?

Lest we forget. She has been there, done that and we were glad to have her gone. Don't forget how she tried to run day to day business which is not the boards role.

Yes, because of her previous experience, and because of the close association she has had with several former administrators [NOT Ms. Haug] and with many current CEA members, that she needs to be out in front. She knows all of these problems -- she has much insight into these difficulties, and she has all the answers.

I want to appeal to the public in general, and to the Daily Reporter specifically: her comments at the last school board meeting need to be made known. The public needs to read her comments, and the newspaper should publish them.

I also know that the Daily Reporter has received several "Letters to the Editor" in support of Mr. Heistan, and they have not published them. They should publish those letters, and do so immediately.

The Daily Reporter has also received e-mail communications which should be published as well.

After one week, two-thirds of readers here think the answer to the poll question is NO. That's a lot of "no" votes. Does anyone wonder why this high negative response/reaction? I don't get it.

There are many people who are unaware of Mary Ann's extensive knowledge of the school district, and especially her insight into the recent problems at the high school. The new superintendent would be well advised to listen carefully to Mrs. Schorfhaar, especially regarding John Heistan. She has known him for years and worked closely with him. I know that Mrs. Schorfhaar would like to see John return in some capacity at the high school. Many of us who know them would like to see this happen.

absolutely, bring John back and put Mary Ann on the board. Haven't our HS students suffered enough. Sure bring him back, what we need is chaos, anarchy and the display of ignoring authority and policies mean nothing. Good luck to our new superintendent, HS administrator and board. Perhaps John could pull weeds at the admionistration building so they could keep an eye on him.

It is a little late this session for Mary Ann to run for School Board. The elections were held in last April. John Heistanís contract was not renewed in the spring of 2007. So if Mary Ann knows so much and wanted to be on the School Board, she should have run last April.

There seems to be some uncertainty whether Ms Haug was acting at the direction of the Board or whether the Board was just cowed. The Board has been strangely mute when giving any direction to the Administration with respect to any overall vision or goals for the District. Given the lack of any meaningful discussion at the Board table, one tends to believe that Board Members say things in private that they are unwilling to say in public.

I believe the new Board reorganization meeting is Monday night, July 14, at 7pm. Perhaps some input from the public about its expectations for open and frank discussions could correct some of the current uncertainty and result in a new Board organization.
