Any Observation?

Or, more likely, name calling?

It is difficult to select a new superintendent. I have been on previous boards when they selected 2 prior superintendents. I would like to know why Joe Lopez from Quincy was not selected. When I was on the Board we were wishing he would apply. Now that he did apply, he was basically rejected. In my opinion, not too smart.

First you tell us that it is difficult to select a superintendent.

Then you tell us that the board "basically rejected" him.

Do you think the board found it easy to do that, considering that quite a number of people thought Joe to be a good candidate? I think you ought to give the current board members more credit. I like Joe Lopez -- I know him personally -- he is a fine man and a good administrator. But how much do you know about Dr. Martin, the new superintendent? Do you really think that the board did a "not too smart" thing, especially when the vote was unanimous? I mean, come on, the board had its reasons for its selection.

It is probably best that priorboardmember is no longer a board member, if he is willing to give Lopez the job without having been a part of the process of interviewing other candidates. Who needs a board member whose mind is already made up before the interview process?

Still feel the same way? He fired some teacher, eliminated courses for the gifted kids, forced 3 or 4 dozen kids to change schools, lost 165 students (many to Mr. Lopex in Quincy) and quits.

Maybe priorboardmember knows more about this stuff than you do.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Cancer

You'll be happiest when you're with people who make you feel loved and cherished. You'll bend over backwards to keep them sweet, and will concede arguments and disputes for the sake of peace. Try not to make it peace at any price because that could be setting up problems with people who will then try to take advantage of your good nature. Co-operation is one thing, being a doormat is quite different.
