Oh, how I miss the fall colors. being a native New Yorker and a New England resident for several years I now know how much it meant for the fall colors to be such a big part of my life. What I wouldn't give to be able to live in such a beautiful if not the most beautiful part of the country again. I am working on getting out of this flat, sandy, humid, extremely expensive state, so much for the Sunshine State. Not this city/country girl. So for now you folks out there enjoy your fall season, for I soon will return to my roots......... Thank you for reminding me of what life is all about.

I live in the Poconos, having moved here 11 years ago from Smithtown...grew up in Mineola.
Driving through Delaware Water Gap in late September and early October is amazing. The mountains just light up with color. On the Pocono Plateau, where I live, elevation about 2100 feet, the views are breathtaking, but they come a smidge earlier due to the temperature difference. We have already had several nights in the 30's up there. And with Great Wolf Lodge and other family-friendly places to stay and play, it can be a wonderful weekend trip.So bundle up and come visit the Poconos! You'll ve glad you did!(And there is no sales tax on clothing and shoes here...and lots of outlet stores.)
And no, I do not work for the Visitors Bureau...I just love it here.
