It's official. Route 301 has a new name: The Hudson River Turnpike. Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, Director of Tourism Libby Pataki and other officials gathered to recognize the renaming of the roadway-which stretches 17 miles east and west across the County-during two press conferences Monday.

Why is this happening. I grew up living on Lake Sagamore. Why would Rte 301 need a new name.
