So Obama forces business. To pay higher wages and. Raise their prIces, consumers price goes up and that equals consumers paying higher taxes.

Interesting argument but I can see both sides.

What other side? Government should not be in the business of setting minimum wages, there are many out there that are not worth the $7.25 per hour now. These are start out jobs, not career jobs.

Increasing minimus does nothing but increase consumer costs and force people to pay more. People will have less money and government will get more to waste.

Well first off. Professional salaries do increase. The cost of living does increase. Also, there are people who work minimum wage jobs to support themselves and possibly a family. So with the cost of living still increasing and non minimum wage employees salaries rising the discrepancy between the haves and have nots widens further.

Never thought about that but it does make sense, I definitely think we should raise the min wage. Thanks for that point!

Hundreds of Economists Say:

"Raise the Minimum Wage" (2006) is an open letter from more than 650 economists, including 5 Nobel prize winners and 6 past presidents of the American Economic Association, stating that increasing federal and state minimum wages, with annual cost-of-living adjustments for inflation, "can significantly improve the lives of low-income workers and their families, without the adverse effects that critics have claimed."

Why Does the Minimum Wage Have No Discernable Effect on Employment?(2013) reviews the past two decades of research on the impact of minimum wage increases on employment: this study concludes that the weight of the evidence points to little or no effect of minimum wage increases on job growth. The study also finds that a review of the minimum wage literature commonly cited by minimum wage opponents is flawed because it is subjective, relies in large part on studies of wage increases in foreign countries, and fails to consider the most sophisticated and recent minimum wage studies.

Do you know the Best way to increase Federal Tax receipts? Reduce unemployment. The Government should be the "employer of last resort" as it was during the last Republican Great Depression. Massive Government Spending on Infrastructure could get us back to full employment thus increasing Tax receipts and revive the Middle Class.
Contrary to what the Spineless Republicans in Congress piss themselves about, we(the U.S.) are NOT BROKE! We are the Wealthiest Nation on the Planet and we need to start behaving as such.

When did we become the "land of the free and the home of the Chicken Shit"?

Raising the minimum eage INCREASES consumer costs and takes money out of the economy. Raising the minimus wage is a TAX hike on the working people and makes the poor poorer.

Yes. Raising the minimum wage may increase consumer costs but the employee is also paid more. Consumer costs will still and do rise without increases to the minimum wage.

Using your school of thought maybe everyone should work for free at minimum wage positions. We can bring back slavery. Think about how cheap consumer products would be then?

Using you thoughts maybe everyone should be paid a million dollars a day? The market will dictate minimum wage, government should not be involved. The point, obviously over your head, is that government is raining the minium for higher taxes not for the benefit of the minimum wage worker.

No the point is not over my head at all. That's what people say to others when they can not further defend their point.

Leaving the minimum wage standards to be dictated by business? Are you insane? Yeah that worked well before. Lets take away safety regulation while we're at it as well. That should bring the costs down.

No one is talking about eliminating safety standards, but if you have been in the workforce for any length of time and you are only earning minimum wage, the problem is you, not the system.

Some people can only earn minimum wage. That still leaves them below the property line. And now there's people talking about eliminating it? If people think crime is bad now...well just think about it.
