Steve Price, CSEA president, said the furlough would be a disservice to city taxpayers and that the council should look at promoting the city, rather than cutting services.

“I don’t think it would save them that much money,” he said.“If they want, a few of the council members could take a 365-day furlough. That’d save some money.” nice steve thanks for looking out for the taxpayer you smuck

Any business in the global economy today that can not control its overhead costs will ultimately fail. Governmental agencies have the same situation facing them, CUT THE FAT~! Or would you rather have NYS move in and take over Utica's finances? May not be a bad idea on paper, but ???

But what?.....but it just might be a good move because the state could bring in qualified professionals with experience on a larger scale and actual working knowledge how government and finances should be managed for a city setting, could abolish the deep devastating corruption that has been so steadily ingrained in our local government that has been the main underlying issue to this cities problems, or could it possibly bring funding on a larger scale from the state and other sanctions once they are in charge of saving this crumbling town????......I say, but it just might be the answer this city needs.

I personally think Utica services are at bare bones. I don't think they can afford to be any worse. A it stands already sometimes new Hartford as as many cars on the road on a weekend night. The police can barely get a day off now I can't imagine with this how it would be done. The dpw can barely keep up with a storm producing 3 inches but if all days are fair game then I'm down to take every Holliday off.

Get rid of the At-Large council people, let the remaining district council people just have to step up and DO MORE!

I don't think he mentioned any particular group at all and its still and overall great idea. Why have people sitting around trying to avoid doing nothing an extra day.
