Girl drowns in Saluda River

An 11-year-old girl drowned at Irvin Pitts Memorial Park in Ware Shoals, according to the Greenwood County Coroner's Office.

I was Nasjma's first cousin.I was so upset when i found out the news.It was so sad and our family and i had just got over a death of a grandfather who had just passed away in March of 2007.Then just a few months later i here about Nasjma dying and i feel so strange.Oh!!! it wouldn't let me sleep at night i was so dissapointed i kept getting scared to close my eyes at night!!!It was terrible i couldn't get over what had just happened to my first cousin.She was a joy to have in the family always brought comedy when someone was feeling down.As family we felt as if that she was a gift to have upon the earth.Most of the family thought that but i knew she was.Since she was always bringing comedy to the family when someone else was down we always made her feel better when she was down it was a priority!This was a terrible tragedy that happened to the family most people took it very hard,why i remember when all those people were crying at the vigual that we held at the party rock at the saluda river.As the days rolled on everyone seemed to get over it.But i knew way deep down that i might be the only one who wasn't getting back into the swing of things.I felt very weird and strange inside as though i had to tell someone about it.Finally i couldn't hold it in to myself i had to tell my mom and dad.They talked with me,i kind've felt a little better with the sleeping problem.Finally one day i got over it and here i am today.To this day sometimes when i'm alone and have nothing to do i sometimes think and cherish those great moments that we had together playing around up until the day that she drowned.This thoughtful message came from a ten year old girl me that was younger than she was!!!!!!!!!!

Nasjma was my second cuz! it's 2008 im still crying1 i love her so much! Emily her other cuz is still woundering why she died! I should of been the one i loved her to death pa pa keller died and now we we to much 4 me i loved her soo much me her and her sis Nahja hung out all the time we cant do that any more cause we we is gone she looked so preety in her castic a crown was placed on her head we never hated each other boy she was and now is the main one i thhink about she is now on 15 of my white shirts. i remember Nahja crying telling pinky we we's ma when she fainted i droped down on the couch for our bff and cuz ship to remain i didnt go to the funral i saw her in the castic the day before she died she told me when i die ill never for get you thats a promise id go on but i need 2 cry bye!!!!!!!!!!
