You dont rent to these people from the kindness of your heart You do it because Troy is full of people living off the working people and you know you will get your rent money. If you had to depend on these people to pay you,you would be on welfare also Sorry Ray you are incorrect I come from Family money, I don't need these peoples rent and to be honest with you most if not all of them are behind, I believe in giving people a break. I have been blessed with a lot and I don't really need to work to live, I feel bad for those who do not have what I have been given in life and I get happiness from providing it to them when they least expect it. I rent to people I have met and trust. I would not brag about owning a house in Burgh either as I live in Troy

Watch it Ray, HBIC will tell you that the Lansingburgh is not in the City of Troy. Do you pay your taxes to the City of Lansingburgh??? Wouldn't that be nice...

When the "pillsbury dough boy" Mayor "cleaned up downtown" He sent most of the druggies from down there up. They all came with a hooker. Out of sight out of mind. We don't mind paying downtown's taxes they can't pay that with food stamps. I know one thing if I had "family money" and was that well off I sure as hell wouldn't be in Troy NY. Unless of course my name was Hedley There is another one getting anything he wants from this city

Ray wrote: Good ole Troy. Happy Harry is determined to get a new city hall. They should think about doing something with the garbage dump they call downtown now. Proctors has been sitting there falling apart for years. The old kentucky fried chicken same way.Harry is too worried about luxury apts and hotels and parking garages. You cant even get a fast food restaurant to stay in the city for fear of being robbed.Bruno said the people can dock their boats and do whatever they want to do in Troy. The dope dealers are already doing that and they dont have to dock a boat. Maybe Harry should take a ride from one end to the other of Troy and see what a mess he is Mayor of Proctors had been sold to RPI. RPIs record of restoring our historic landmarks is dismal at best, criminally negligent at the worst (witness the old mansions being torn down instead of being restored). City Hall has been determined to be fundamentally sound and it should be repaired ($2.8 million) instead of torn down ($4.5 million). To use Restore New York Grants to tear down City Hall is a HUGE mistake. Judge Corporation had said they'd like the property on which City Hall sits (the last waterfront property owned in downtown Troy by We The People) so they can build a multiple use building on the site. NONE of those multiple uses would benefit us the taxpayers. If you or I bought a property here in Troy, we'd be expected to foot the bill for the restoration or the demolition of it. Why should Judge or ANY other corporation have it done for them at our expense? Harry, as our Mayor, IS the "caretaker" of ALL abandoned buildings currently owned by the City of Troy. In that capacity it is his responsibility to make sure these buildings are secure. Where was he when Rennselear Iron Works (yet another historic landmark in Troy) burned down? That should NOT have happened and would not have happened if it were anyone but Harry in charge. Harry is looking out for Harry and NOT We The People. Brunos "gift" to Troy: Is not a gift at all. He knows that to do the riverfont project properly we need $8 million. He's only offering $6 million meaning that we have to come up with the other $2 million in order to receive the promised $6 million. Basically put? We can't come up with. Therefore say bye bye to the "gift". In other words? Just another slap (parting shot) in Troys face.

Anything that goes on in Troy now is Tax free like RPI and I am curious as to how much Hedley is paying in taxes

The one that concerns me is the guy that owns half of downtown Troy, owes over $11,000 in back water bills and over $100,000 in back property taxes! Yet, Harry goes after private persons who owe only $175 in property taxes and forcloses on their houses, thorwing them into the street so he can let their home sit there, rot and finally be torn down.

I'm 46 and originally from Wynantskill. Troy was a great city back then. Then came the Atrium. I've lived in Troy for 10 years now after a 5 year stint in NYC. I know it's beaten and run down but I still love it. I'm praying there is hope for it. I understand where HBIC is coming from. You shouldn't blast someone because they are proud of their city. Hey it is the home of Uncle Sam. I don't know if Harry is the answer but I do think he is doing all he can considering what he has to work with. And I've always liked Bruno.

I'm sorry, but I don't see proud in the others persons print. They rent knowing the people are poor, which sometimes isn't thier fault and claim to have a heart because of it. My question would be, are his/her appts. up to code and are they modern? My only problem with spending millions are is this park going to be safe for all to come?

I'm just saying I hope Troy can rebound. It won't be easy. But we still have to try. My father has a book on the history of Rensselaer County. It is a great read. This was once a great city. It can be again. But it will take a lot of hard work and commitment by everyone. Not just the mayor or the police but everyone. Pointing fingers doesn't help. I think the mayor is doing very well. It can't be rebuilt in a night. It just seems like a lot of people have given up.

I was born and raised in Troy. We have lost over 30,000 of our citizens due to lack of decent paying jobs, rising cost of living and a myriad of other reasons. We need to bring industry back here with an eye to the future.(solar panels, vertical wind generators and tidal generators) We have the space required for these industries in several sections of the city. Yet, Harry, our mayor, insists on bringing jobs here which will only pay in the $9 -$10 per hour range. Just in case nobody has noticed, 71% of Troy's citizens have only 1 year of college or less education! The jobs that Harry is bringing will NOT get anyone above the poverty level! Bring the good paying jobs and our city will grow and prosper as it should.
