This is by far the most corrupt county in the state. Deputy's are all a bunch of drinking and driving maniacs. This sob better get a long prison sentance. The FBI should investigate this county.

Seems like every place as a "weirdo" of some kind or other! When "somebody" said this is THE WORST Co., in MN...true, for a whole range of stuff. But, there are alot of o.k. people, too.

I would like to think everyone has their opinions but some of the accusations you both have made are pretty huge. I have only lived here for 3 1/2 years but it seems okay here to me. So, can you at least let me know what you are talking about. Do you have any facts to back up your statements?

O.K. "Gypsy Demon" above, is from Orofino, ID, and was throwing his 2 cents in lol! The nut he is referring lives in Ahsahka, ID. The weirdo has a blog up called Rudi24-7 at yahoo groups, address is also above. This guy accused a couple of Orofino men of ridiculous things. I used to live up there, and one of those men was my neighbor, and I know he didn't do what "Rudi" claims. What he did was threaten Bush on the internet, and his house got raided by the local SWAT team. Ahsahka is three miles away from Orofino. That blog goes back to about 12/04 I think. Earlier posts by "Rudi" seem to mostly talk about sports, then he got really out there!

You'll figure it out, about Itasca Co. one of these days, just stick around! And, one of the facts is this, you might get killed just trying to cross a street on foot. There are the worst drivers right here in the G.R. area I have ever seen in my entire life!!! I could go on and on, but, you'll see for yourself.

FYI...also, this county has a ridiculous incest rate, and drug abuse (especially meth.). You'de think it was back in the hills of some southern state. And, too many attitudes are of that nature. "If" you get my drift. And, that's just a few to mention!

@Jason H I was thinking the same exact thing. In my opinion the main reason Itasca county police upgraded to digital radios was to reduce the number of people listening to scanners. Not much people would want to spend $200+ on a digital trunking scanner. If that's not bad enough they use a lot of encryption(scrambling), they've also used encryption before they upgraded to digital. I've monitored our neighboring counties and I've never heard any encryption. And how does one go about getting an FBI investigation of a county's police force?

Dave S always thought he was the shit. Cocky at work, thought he was all high and mighty etc. Its hilarious he sees how the other side feels!! Same with the other one.
Don't forget the same department was sued and had to pay 60 plus grand for making sexual gestures, phone calls comments etc to the court house janitor whom I know very well all because hes a little slow. GOOD FOR HIM BUT HE SHOULD HAVE WENT FOR MORE!! Guess who had to pay that? Not any of the several who were involved and still they all never had to miss a day because of it and still work for us.
How much more has been kept hidden from us?
Vic has a lot of clean up to do....but hes the man who can do it!!
Need to get rid of the immature, sick, unprofessional deputies this county has had since Medure didn't have the guts to.

The reason Itasca County upgraded to digital is to have a better response time and coverage area with less towers to bounce radio signal from one tower to another and to also get on the state wide emergency response system that is digital. The WHOLE country is trying to go digital in order to make it a nationwide. You would know that uf you were in the kaw enforcement, EMS or fire rescue community. I take it, you are not, so i hope you are now better informed on this matter and stop posting ignorant posts. As fir encryption, there are some things that certain civilians (criminals) don't need to hear. That is why our encryption codes are in place for suspicion of said civilians, we can encrypt to hinder listening to the channel.

I always wondered why WallyWorld in Grand Rapids was out of tin foil all the time. Now I know. You guys must be use two layers in you hats right? That said, don't worry about the county when it comes to the new digital 800 radio system. Worry about the ones who pushed it on the county and why they want it. You are going to need a lot more tinfoil.

chief jim needs to go have you seen how crime has been on the rise since he took over?
no surprise as he was part of the law suit filed by the county custodian.
go in and ask to see the records. the city has almost or more incidents then the whole county, i wouldn't want to raise my family in grand rapids, i will stay out in the rural areas where its safe!!!!
