I was born and raised here. I have lived all of my life in Coffeyville, worked hard, raised my own family and tried to believe in my hometown. This town is not the same town I grew up in. It is filled with gossips, drug addicts, and other criminals. Our downtown is dead, we are not attracting any new businesses, and what businesses that are here are not offering jobs that pay enough to attract new people to relocate here. The city counsel is corrupt, taxes are sky high and affordable housing is not available.
It is like Coffeyville gave up.

did you forget about the flood? cville is still hurting from that natural disaster. one-third of the town was destroyed and then the refinery started spreading like brain cancer.

it takes time to rebuild and nobody is giving up.

The flood was just an accelerstor. Come on, people, can you not see what this town is? Are you so deep in denial? Those of you who have lived here all your lives, do you not see that this town is dead? Get out before you are stuck and rotting here.
I have watched this forum. All that is on Topix is about who is a snitch, who is screwing who, and who is a drug dealer. Do you honestly think that any business would want to come to a town and offer jobs to drug addicts, welfare whores, and lazy people who do not give a s*** about this town and wait for the government to give them a hand out?
WAKE UP COFFEYVILLE!

You left out the fact that some of the grossly overpaid city administration is either corrupt or incompetent, or both. The city commission apparently hasn't had the balls to do a damned thing about that.

Coffeyville was already on its deathbed before the flood.

We are pretty much a border town ran by the railroad and the refinery. Until we get some kind of self respect in this community we will continue to go down hill.

This whole county is dying off. Been a MG County lifer since born. Nothing new coming in here. No future for our young people, unless you consider very mediocore jobs a future! It's not just C'ville, it's Indy too. It has become a racket for those clicks that need special interests built, updated, etc, whatever, while streets and services to the public which we use every day go to ruins. Still like the area and the countryside but the metropolis areas are decaying.

Ya I wish there was a test city that was trying out a new concept of living kinda like the documentary future by design. I would sign up, and socialism would be more based on How you design your house instead of just having a big house. And food is basically run on an automated system making it just plain available, I must spend most of my money on food . Then you have electricity from solar or windmills leaving you time to focus on expanding your skills or mind.

Totally agree with you CPD! This town was on the downward slide far before any flood hit. Alot of it is the poor leadership from the city leaders. There is no pride left in this community whatsoever. People that live here don't take care of their properties at all. Nothing is done at the city level to enforce any regulations that deal with the conditions of property. The most disfunctional city government I ever seen in my lifetime. I live here not in Parsons and shown. Been here along time and watched too much stupidity take place at the leadership level. It's a hugh laugh with the city puts up a progress sign
when they do something they should have done years past. Scum is rampant. The quality of people living here is making it all worse. Cops don't deal
with real crime. Would rather write tickets for not wearing your seat belt. Drugs used, sold in every part of town. It just doesn't matter to anyone anymore.
