I have a great idea for Coffeyville to make a lot of money. Bulldoze all of downtown and built a nice casino. There's no shopping there to speak of anyway. What there is downtown can relocate to all the vacant buildings. Lots of revenue means lower taxes. I'm serious about this. Keep in mind you can't please all of the people.

Coffeyville probably will not ever have a casino. Wrong side of the border.

We need it in Coffeyville. Legally is that not possible? South Coffeyville won't help our revenue.

Needs to be on Indian land to have a casino, on either side. In OK, it is a lot easier though. I live in Ark City, and we have 3 casinos less than a mile from the KS/OK border, from three different tribes. In KS, it has to be Indian, or a State run casino. Wellington and Mulvane have been fighting to get a state-run one for 3 years. I will tell you the OK casinos rake in the money. Every weekend, all the parking lots are packed with Butler and Sedgwick Co (Wichita) plates. I would say that Ark City sees some revenue, but we don't, not even gas, since one of the casinos has a OK gas station in from of it.

The old Walmart is a sink hole. people don't realize every year that property is sinking 6'' 5/10 into the ground. most likely the building will be in the ruins for demo in the year of 2015. just a fact people might want to know about before they get any bright ideas here.

A casino would be a big boost for sure. As far as Indian Land, if you check, the Cherokee Nation starts in the middle of 8th Street going South into Oklahoma. Cherokee tribe should look into putting in a casino in Coffeyville. I am sure they would get support from most all the citizens. All the old "fuddy duddy's" are leaving the area for a better place to retire.

I still think it's a great idea. For some reason our city never seems to prosper. To me it's a logical perposal. Lots of jobs and motels might do good. It doesn't really need to be a big Vegas style casino because mostly locals and a few out of towners would probably be the patrons. Seems like businesses wanting to locate here always get shot down by our officals.

A casino in South Coffeyville would help with the revenue in Coffeyville! Gas, Food, and lodging to name a few. The infrastructure is already in place in Coffeyville to benefit.

I hope the right person reads this and considers checking into the possiblities of a casino. I'm a religious person and don't see a thing wrong with it. If a person is going to spent their rent money it won't matter if it's at a casino or some where else to them.

At one time Cherokee Nation had land that was called the Cherokee Outlet and also what was called the Cherokee Strip, which was part of C.N. after the civil war in 1866 the C.N. was force to sale the Cherokee Outlet, and later sold the Cherokee Strip. At one time part of Coffeyville was inside the C.N., account of a sureying error of two miles and now under the C.N. the boarder is the Oklahoma state line.

At this time C.N. has know land inside Kansas, and if a casino was to be build, it would build inside the service area of Cherokee Nation and not on the Kansas side.
