Check the Coffeyville Journal issue from Friday. It has a list of trunk or treat and they are on Sunday evening.

So do particular churches set up in their parking lots, or is there a set place that every goes and the kids come to them? I'm not sure how it works but I know a few mothers who have no means of transportation. I am willing to help if I knew the logistics.

Thanks

Susie the one we go to is on first street west of the elementary school... I do not know about any of the others.. We usually go there, then take a walk around the neighborhood.

But in answer to your question..They do set up in their parking lot and the kids go around in a line...

The First United Methodist Church -the one behind McDonald's - is having a trunk or treat Sunday night from 5:30 to 7:30. There will be candy, of course, plus hot dogs, juice and tooth brushes. Everyone is welcome.

Holy Name is having Trunk or Treat after 5:30 Mass - probably around 6:30.

Oops, my bad. Holy Name's trunk or treat was after Saturday's mass. The Journal made a mistake. Big surprise.

I was thinking earlier this evening (yes, I know that can be dangerous) while taking my son trick or treating, about how it would be nice to have a city-wide trunk or treat. Perhaps it could be like a block party, the city blocks off a few blocks in town (maybe mid-8th street near the high school where it is well lit), and those in the community who would like to participate could park on the street, line the sidewalks on foot or in lawn chairs, or utilize the parking lots at the high school, Bridges, Coffeyville Feed, etc... to pass out treats to the children. This would reduce the potential danger of children running across streets in front of motorists and lessen travel time for parents in search of lighted porches for their little goblins to go to.
Not to mention the little ones would make out like bandits.
Some bigger cities have gone to this type of trick or treating for their community youth, gathering at shopping malls and the like to pass out treats instead of driving their children all over the place.

wouldn't want someone to work to much to get something for free.... Oh heres an idea maybe the people that want their kids to get candy' could just stay home and turn on their porch lights. Then those that wish to give away candy could drive around and look for the lights go to the door and say trick or treat. Which ever they ask for they could get. then on to the next house.

That way the folks lookin for free candy wouldnt have to leave the comforts of their own home. But this begs the next question who would dress up?

OMG really? You want to go there? It's not about kids getting things for free, but about the community doing something together for a change. If you havent noticed, there is not a whole lot of things for the youth in this community to do, and if the older generation could make something safer and still fun, why not? Forgive me for having an idea.

I think the city wide trunk or treat is a great idea! However I do have a word of advise for that special person you know who you are... perhaps next time you should see who is with the people you are talking trash about in the Chruch parking lot(DCC) BEFORE you start running your mouth!!

Thank you for the apology it is excepted just please be nice and consider the feelings of those around you and the children that dont need to witness it.

again I think the city wide truck or treat is a great idea. perhaps a friendly comepetion of decorating the trunk would be good... I think it would be cool because some of us live out of town and dont have many visitors.
