More like, Resoundingly stupid people with delusions of grandeur that are feeling bullet-proof. This is 'laughable' as previously stated, and requires no defense. The only thing that is 'sad' about any of this is when people are hurt by these idiots and there juvenile decisions. so what is your toot cause determination I'm sure it should be entertaining...

I certainly could be wrong, haven't really studied it or seen enough information to draw a conclusive opinion.
Let me ask you a couple questions regarding your response.
Do you believe the schools in poor neighborhoods provide an education equal to those in rich areas?
Do you believe (generally speaking) blacks have an equal shot at a job if one of the people competing for the same job has the same qualifications but is white?
USA wide, maybe not. In places like Coffeyville, Yes. We have only one grade school and one high school. As for jobs, I think it is pretty much the same. I have done pretty well for myself and I came from a single family. I have a brother and he became one of the top doctors in America. My second brother is a different story. I support him. He lost his house and has lived with my wife and me for around 8 years now. In addition, that was from the east side of Coffeyville when I was a kid. I now live in the Edgewood district. A few years back, our little town had a black Chief of Police. He was also a Landlord and rented houses. There are successful conclusions, but it does take work. This is not the 70's.

I got off the internet that obama is on the wrong track for blacks. He thinks by giving them what they have not earned is ok. Its election time, maybe he wants their votes.

Crime rate in Coffeyville is 0.5 out of a possible 5 points. Higher the rating, the safer your town is. We are not doing very well at all.

Just taking a shot in the dark here, but the root cause for Shobe's criminal behavior could be that he's a [email protected](&)%g criminal! PERIOD! He rolled the dice and got caught. Sometimes people read too much into things. There are a lot of people that grew up in less than stellar environments that are not criminals. The lazy people take the easy route (drug sales, robberies, forgeries, etc.) He tried to benefit from planning, recruiting, intimidating, and executing a crime. Simple as that.

I would disagree regarding jobs in Coffeyville and this area in general. Two equally qualified people, a white person doing the hiring - I think the white applicant scores the job much more often. Which one are you going to hire - all things being equal?

So... Are you saying that the reason this guy robbed two banks in Tulsa, OK. is because of his inability to find a job?

Nope - didn't say anything even remotely like that.

If you have two people applying for the same job, I do not think it is very often they are both equally qualified, if the company uses a point system. If so, they could always use the age of the men applying for the job as a tiebreaker. The Air Force uses a point system to promote their people. One year, I was not promoted because my score was .003 below the cut off (1/3 of one percent). One year I was put in for being the best Senior Non-commissioned Officer of the Air Force for the year (1986). Once they got it down to ten people, the tiebreaker was education. That is how they picked the very best; I did not win the tiebreaker. I was equally qualified for doing my job. But again, they could only have one winner. It really did not matter to me if it was a white or black man that beat me. They used a tiebreaker. Yes, I was upset because I did not win. But again, that is life.

In the past, the Air Force rounded off percentages to the next hole number. But that year, they stopped rounding off. The Air Force is always looking for ways to save money. The next year, I was above the cut off. My point is a lot of times its not the company's fault. We have to except it. I'm not saying all companies are fair. We all know better than that.

It was a hypothetical question. I believe if you would answer it honestly, you would admit that you would probably pick the white guy. Most people would probably pick the person they most identified with. There is actually one reason that might cause color to be the tie-breaker but this also applies to individuals with a handicap and/or women. You can fire a white male with a lot less concern about being sued. I terminated a black girl one time, with very good and documented reasons. She marched straight down to the EEOC. Didn't do her any good - as I said, my documentation was more than sufficient.

Anyway, my point was that I believe blacks have more difficulty getting jobs than whites, all things considered. Makes for a tougher row to hoe. And no - SOS - this doesn't justify the black guy committing a bank robbery.

Could be. Many instances of one child growing up to be a criminal when he had siblings who turned out just fine even though they all had the same upbringing. Not sure anybody can explain that.

There are studies making correlations between lower crime rates because abortion was made legal so you have less unwanted children being raised poorly and turning into criminals, a correlation between lead poisoning and crime rates, child abuse and crime rates, I don't believe anyone can be certain.

I'm relatively certain a lot of it has to do with environment though. Irish and Italian gangsters from poor sections back east. Black, Latino and Asian gangs all over from poor areas. Not just a ton of violent criminals get raised up in affluent areas.

Hypothetical Question: How many times do you see a white guy working for a black owned company?(Especially a small company)

It works both ways, even though I would say a white owned company is more apt to hire minorities than a company owned by a black person.

Nobody wants to hear that. The Race thing seems to only work in 1 direction. That is why 95% of black voters voted for obuma. Now if 95% of the whites did the same, well lets just say we would be racist.

I don't see that we have any disagreement here.

In my statement that you quoted I said most people would be more likely to hire the person they identified with. Whites would hire a white before a black and blacks would hire a black before a white. Except maybe a white guy might hire a Hispanic guy over a white guy these days....

It is really a shame that Mr. Shobe made poor decisions. Now his children will grow up without a father. Life seems to be a horrible cycle and somebody has to break it!
I won't bore you with my story but I will say I decided to break my family cycle. I am the 1st college graduate and if I can do it with the cards I was dealt anybody can.
Mother's- Don't reproduce until you are ready and in a stable relationship with a good man. 1. Having a child will not make a man love you. 2. If a man is no good today he will be no good tomorrow.
Father's- Don't reproduce until you are ready and in a stable relationship. Your children need you so be there for them.

As to crime and Mr. Shobe...This should be a lesson to all that the easy way never pays in the long run. You may get away will crime for a while but one day it will bite you in the rear.

Maybe you should change your tag to "Go to Jesus and thumb your nose at him." Taking delight at someone's misfortune, even if brought on by themselves, doesn't strike me as very "Christian-like". Well, maybe a Westboro Christian.
Misfortune is when you try to do good and things don't go your way. Misfortune is NOT getting caught stealin or robbing. Turkey brain.
