PlanetAid boxes are placed by a subsidiary of a Danish criminal-on-the-run controlled cult called Tsvid. The donated items are sold, not distributed, to fund various branches of this scum-bags enterprises. Better Business Bureau has rejected PlanetAid's charity classification, as only %23 of the funds are used to support any charity.
The box I have seen is in Kennedy's Sweeper parking lot on 8th St.
Donations to Goodwill, the Salvation Army or local charities would be a better choice.

Salvation Army is an anti-gay evangelical church. I wouldn't give those bigots a cent.

Locally, please donate your items (clothing, household, etc.) to one of the several churches that have thrift stores. I can personally vouch for St. Paul's Episcopal church that they are not a judgmental congregation and are welcoming almost to a fault. And while I don't know for fact, I'd bet that they (as well as other area church thrifts) will gift to those in dire need.

Interpol-not is correct, except the name is TVIND. The members prefer to call themselves the Teachers Group. Planet Aid is officially a member of the Federation for Association connected to the Humana People to People movement, the so-called non-profit branch of Tvind. All Federation members pay this group 6.5% of their proceeds...to just a mailbox in Switzerland, but the physical HQ is in Zimbabwe. All of Planet Aid's donations are sent to fellow members. The clothes are sold through a Tvind company, to whom PLanet Aid pays 3% brokers fee. Even the boxes are from a Tvind company...over $800 a pop to a company in China. The FBI has a report on Tvind/Humana which identifies Planet Aid as part of this group, and states "Little to no money goes to the charities." That report was from 2002, so of course the USDA gave Planet Aid a grant of ~$38M in 2009 and another ~$20M just this April. Morons. But Planet Aid isn't the only Tvind operation in the USA. There are 3 other 501c3s, 2 schools, and 10 businesses...furniture, lumber, fruit, and of course used clothing. In Missouri there is another Tvind company called USAgain which operates ilike Planet Aid except it is for-profit. So...please educate yourselves by searching on-line, don't let these groups put up boxes at your schools, and always donate locally. Thank you for letting me post my opinion.

Correction:“Tvind”— not “Tsvid”. The rest of Interpol-not's comment is right on.

Tvind was the name of a farm near the town of Ulfborg in western Denmark, about 7 miles from the North Sea. The farm was situated where a little creek twisted its way across the landscape.“Tvind” in Danish means “twisting” or “a twist,” which referred to the path of the creek through the farmland. The founders of the Tvind Teachers Group — now considered by many to be a political cult involved in financial criminal activity — first met at this farm in the early 1970s to discuss their ideas.

Back then, founders of the Tvind Teachers Group started an alternative school system for troubled youth in Denmark, which was funded by the government. The group later started other types of schools.

But according to a 2001 case summary by Danish police and Denmark's Public Prosecutor for Serious Economic Crime, the scope of the Tvind Teachers Group had by 1992 “expanded far beyond pure school activities.” Such activities were said to include the ownership of Third World fruit plantations, farms, shoe factories, sawmills, aid agencies, used clothing shops as well as the leasing of property, ships and containers.

In 1997, the Teachers Group founded Planet Aid in the U.S. Today the charity has over 13,000 of its clothes-collection bins placed in 20 states. But Planet Aid has received a storm of media criticism for its reportedly inflated charity claims. Other reports have tied Planet Aid to the Tvind Teachers Group, whose top leaders are now fugitives wanted in Denmark in connection with a multimillion-dollar tax-fraud and embezzlement scheme.

Sorry about the '●' before each report; I had used a 'dot' symbol to mark each report, but the website turned it into code.

it is such a shame that you are so insecure with yourself and your beliefs that you have to stoop to unsolicited attacks on those who don't believe as you do. Just saying.

Here are media reports on Planet Aid that I referred to in my earlier comment. Because many Internet links (URLs) aren’t allowed here, the reports are listed below by their TITLES. To view one of the following reports, simply highlight a title, right-click it, then select "Search Google…". A new tab should open in your web-browser showing search results for that title. Who cares, I just use them to throw away stuff that the garbage trucks wont collect. ie lead based paint, dangerous chemicals, dead animals, aborted fetuses and other used medial waste. Pretty damn good concept if you ask me.
