Once again we have lost another channel with Cox. KOAM is now gone as are everything between 64-74. At the price of cable they should be adding channels not removing them. It is time for our commissioners to do something about this, maybe they could change Coffeyville over to Comcast or one of the other cable companies. Let us band together and fight this.

I know someone at KOAM personally, I'll see if he can convince the newsroom to do a story on it. The worst they can say is no. I guess they would need to interview someone at Cox and then some customers with complaints. Not sure how they would make connections with you customers though.

I suppose if customers announced a boycott or protest on KOAM's website or called the station maybe they would arrange to be there?????

I'm not sure what reason Cox has for dropping KOAM but often these result from money issues.KOAM has been known to hold fast to its position on money issues with the satellite companies.

I'm not sure how many Coffeyville advertisers use Koam but they might be a source of power in deterring Cox.? Just some Ideas...

Cox is dropping KOAM not because Cox wants to drop them... they have no choice. It has to do with FCC regulations and where Coffeyville is on the map. If Comcast came in here, they wouldn't be able to carry it either.

That is not true cox can carry them. The F.C.C. just mandates the local channels that they have to carry.

It is true... cox can't carry a channel outside of its "must carry" area without permission. Cox lost permission to carry them due to CBS national forcing its affiliates to only be carried within their "must carry" areas.

We live near Cherryvale and get it on an over-the-air antenna with a booster and a rotor, but it is very difficult to hold their signal sometimes, especially if the wind is blowing at all. We get all 3 Tulsa networks on the same antenna and they seem to have a stronger signal than KOAM.

While I do not disagree with what you have stated and I know this is the same thing Cox is saying. It also occurs to me that federal regulations do not have the right to endanger people in a particular viewing area just for the sake of regulations. I believe that dropping channel 7 will in fact endanger lives during tornado season since thier coverage of weather conditions is so much more reliable than Tulsa for our area. Also I recall the incident some years ago when the channel 6 bunch decided to censor what it's viewers should be able to see. I speak of the kevorkian issue some years ago. I have not watched channel 6 and in fact have blocked it on all TV's in my home.If they censor once they will again, therefore totally unreliable to this viewer.

You're right, Beaner.Tulsa stations don't show radar for our area, I cannot understand how an Oklahoma station can be our local carrier. We are closer in miles by a good measure to KOAM's station.

You are right in that tulsa stations show radar for our area. No argument. If you read I did say the coverage from KOAM was more accurate and therefore better for our area when tornados approach. One can argue either way but over the years I have witnessed better coverage by KOAM. You can set in front of your computer during the lightning, power outages etcetera but I would rather not.
